Sounds like Robert Lee Kolb. Matter of fact, I'm pretty sure that at the end of the song, he actually sings some strains of his old "Pony Up" song.

each time it starts i think we're going to hear 'roll me away' by bob seger, which is a great song. then, oh this again.
