Re: Dumb, dumb play sequencerunning the offense we are committed to run...we are still not able to separate on slants from DBs, and Padron is still not accurate to fit the ball in....yet.
you continue to try to move the ball in the most efficient manner...in our case the run and shoot dictates primacy on passing. Zach Line 3 times may have been a good choice, but that is why I pastor a church instead of work on a sideline. It is a GOOD thing to be able to question a sequence of plays after a WIN. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: Dumb, dumb play sequenceWe should have run 4 min off the clock up by 14
Run 3 straight, burn time, if we get the first, then get back into throwing
Re: Dumb, dumb play sequenceI'm not going to tell you it isn't dumb. All I can say is you had better get used to it.
JJ addressed this very point in one of the first interviews he did when he became coach, saying that people are going to have a hard time when "we go deep on fourth and inches." The idea is that we continue to play to the strengths of the offense, regardless of circumstances. As a result, it is an EXTREMELY risk-reward type thing. Don't shoot the messenger, just telling you what is going to happen.
Re: Dumb, dumb play sequenceWe are a passing team, regardless of where we have had success thus far this year. We're going to pass it.

Re: Dumb, dumb play sequenceWhat does it tell you? It tells you that our coaching staff didn't think there was any way in hell their offense was going to score twice on our defense in the fourth quarter. That is what it tells you.
Re: Dumb, dumb play sequence
Would have liked to see at least 1 run with Line considering the way he has produced but in time Padron will get better and playcalling like that won't seem as bad. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Dumb, dumb play sequenceI completely disagree.
Football 101 says to milk the clock at that point, but our passing offense desperately needed some game practice to get back to the consistency of last year, and up 14 we had the chance to get some with little risk. Plus, we just had to get some decent passing on film for TCU on Friday to at least make them think about having to respect our passing game. I had no problem with the play selection (and was actually expecting it) based on the circumstances.
Re: Dumb, dumb play sequence
I imagine they were thinking that we could complete one of those passes for a first down. What were you thinking? - in hindsight, of course. You're one to question June Jones, I'm sure. ![]()
Re: Dumb, dumb play sequence
I agree with that and thought the same at gametime....they need the work because they are NOT on all cylinders yet.
