Mike Leach as Analyst

I actually enjoyed Leach as the analyst during coverage of the WSU game. You can tell he has a sharp offensive mind, and made intelligent observations about how both teams were lining up, and potential adjustments. He wasn't too [deleted] the kids, probably because he understood that both teams were in the early stages of development. His droll sense of humor had me chuckling, as well. The only thing that p**ssed me off was that Holiday Bowl comment. I don't need to be reminded about that one.
I'll sit back now and let the bombardment begin....

Once you got past the monotone voice, reminded me of Ben Stein with a high voice, he was not bad. He seemed to stay away from talking about his fight with Bennett or his CJ incident.

Absolutely agree with you, and I've seen on other boards other people who said the same thing. And I WANTED him to stink. That being said, he absolutely does not have a voice for broadcasting - but then again, maybe it helped. I dunno.
Hope he gets more announcing gigs.

I liked when he talked about a lazy defense on the shuffle pass. "If you have some fat guy sitting there, he can break it up. He'll think he made a good play..No, you're just lazy."

When he said that, all I could think of was his "fat girlfriends" quip.
Overall, I liked him. Not surprisingly, he was great at breaking down the offense, and he correctly predicted quite a few plays. He seems a perfect fit for CBSC -- even if ESPN would ever hire him, don't think his lack of BS would fly with them.

He reminded me a little of John Madden in a way, in the sense he was folksy. But I thought he was funny and insightful too.
And believe me I wanted to hate him!

If he did the things he is accused of as far as abusing players then he shouldn't be anywhere near college football or any other sport. Just goes to show you that if you win then many people look past your faults and the tv networks will do anything to improve ratings. A few people probably tuned in to see what he was like away from the game as a coach. It is kind of like a player getting kicked off his team for bad behavior and criminal activity and then another team puts the guy on scholarship because they have a need at that position. (See oregon-ole miss). Shameful. Now look what that deed did to the team chemistry! Hopefully it will get Nutt fired! Then he can become a tv analyst and maybe pair-up with "the pirate".

I thought he made a subtle reference to the Bennet thing buy saying that SMU should try to score at the end "Because that is what we do" and other reasons that seemed like justifications for what he did. Although, as a coach, he did so by calling time-outs with how many, 24? seconds left. In our game there was over or about 2 minutes left and we had been running the ball.
Perhaps I am over analyzing this.
On balance I thought he did a good job as an announcer.
Funny thing when the other announcer mentioned that Leach had been greeted by an A&M fan while out eating or around town and Leach was saying how great A&M was. I thought he was applying for the coaching job.
