Question about entrance to stadium w/ID

I posted this in the sell out thread, but I figured I'd start another thread because it is important enough (for me) to warrant one.

I have a question...at Gate 6, do they scan your ID card if you are using that to get in? Or do they just look at it and let you in? I graduated SMU in 2007 and while I was there, all you had to do was show the ID and you either got a ticket at will call or you could walk in at the gate. But then they started swiping the IDs.

The reason I ask is that I just started working at SMU now and I literally just got my faculty/staff ID card. But it hasn't been activated and I'm afraid that if they swipe it at the stadium, then it won't read and I'll be **** out of luck. I realize that my ID can get me and a guest into the stadium, so I'd be holding a friend's entrance to the game in my hands as well. But of course, if they just look at it, then I'm fine.

My advice would be to get a ticket ahead of time.

They scan, which is why there's always a long line at the student gate right at kickoff.
Buy two tickets and have peace of mind.

can't you go to the ticket office in the morning and have them scan your id for the tickets?

They scan and take forever. Also, you can't get back in if you leave to grab a beer still

If I were a student, I would get a ticket so I could get out and back in :)

Yeah I went to the ticket office yesterday and I could only buy tickets there. In order to use my ID they said I had to go to Gate 6 before the game. I guess it's to keep people from getting free tickets and then selling them.

But oh well, I went ahead and bought two tickets, no biggie. I didn't want to take the risk of my ID not being activated and me being left to dry. I'll be going to the Boulevard around 5, can't wait! I chose the will call option, so I hope the lines there aren't too bad. I'm gonna go ahead and retrieve my tickets before I go to the Boulevard.
