to state the obvious......we really need him.....

It's wait and see with SMU senior cornerback Sterling Moore

UNIVERSITY PARK – SMU senior cornerback Sterling Moore went through the first portion of the Mustangs' two-hour Wednesday morning practice in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts but had to stop because of his injured left knee.

Moore missed last week's game against Washington State after hurting the knee late in the previous game against Alabama-Birmingham.

"I guess the biggest question with him is going to be if it swells," defensive coordinator Tom Mason said. "If he's healthy, he'll probably go at least 40, 50 snaps. We just have to play it by ear and see how he's feeling."

Moore was replaced last week by Bennie Thomas.

Sterling is CRUCIAL for us to have a chance in this game. Thomas, Parks, etc. are not ready for this type fo game.

Moore is much more crucial for conference play than tomorrow. Be ready for him to sit if he is not 100%. I want him against Rice next week more than TCU.

I'm thinking he won't be ready Friday. Hope I'm wrong.

yeah, I'm getting a bad feeling. I'm bracing myself for a porous secondary.
oh well -- longterm, it's better to keep Sterling safe than to risk his Sunday playing days.

hopefully, the boys up front will crank up the qb pressure even more.

You Mason is going to dial up the blitzes in the hopes that we rattle Dalton.

2 thoughts: Who is this Jeff Miller person?

If you tell me I can have an 85% healthy Sterling Moore this week or a 100% healthy Sterling Moore next week, I want 100% healthy Sterling Moore.

I hate to beat on the secondary, but after watching the last game again, the secondary play was terrible. If not for some poorly thrown balls, they might have put up 500+ yards through the air.

The situation Friday is dire. I'd almost hope that TCU has their way on the ground and we can come back and score quickly to keep it close and have the ball last for the win.

From the sound of the DMN piece, 85% might be generous.

As I said, I think he'll start play the first series and call it a day. You know in warm ups he's going to be trying like hell to avoid the trainers.

1. Jeff's a DMN freelancer. Former staff writer but a casualty of a layoff or buyout (I can't remember which) a few years ago. Kate's been doing Big 12 work the past few weeks...not sure whether that's a permanent assignment or something temporary.

2. Agreed.
