they should try to get all the big 12 teams off the schedule too.

I was afraid of this. Note just a couple of days ago when Nebraska and Colorado formalized their decision to leave the Big 12 in 2011 rather than 2012 that Big 12 schools are now forced to play 9 conference games rather than 8. We could be dropped from Texas A&M and Tech in future years for the exact same reason. I was hoping Baylor would drop TCU instead.

Baylor is dropping road non-conference games, whch is why they are keeping the SMU @ baylor in 2012, but dropping the @ SMU 2011 game. Looks like we are going to have to find another home game or be stuck with a 5 game home schedule. I sense a I-AA team in our future.

Maybe we can use the TCU strategy and put an FCS team in there since we don't play one in 2011.

before we do that and add Quachita Baptist-just add NTSU as an SMU home in 2011 and add an away game backloaded to the expected end of that renewed series. Make some money-fill the stands-play a local game people can drive to.

With the new coach they will probably have there may be some NTSU fan interest in the game.

On the plus side, we'll get to play Baylor every year once the newfangled Big-12 blows up and all the other south schools move on to greener pastures.

All for that, but the second you start talking with them they will ask when we are going to play in their new place and how they want the home game first and blah blah blah. They already have road games at Tulsa and Alabama (ugh) and 4 conference road games in 2011. They are going to be looking for somebody to play at their place and I want nothing of it.

I want six home games and won't give that up for a jaunt up 35 or a neutral site, either. If my option is a I-AA team or a raod game, give me the I-AA team.

the one team that I wanted to destroy on the '11 schedule...cast into the deep well of despair yet again by fellow Baptists.., at least there is the consolation of the '11 tcu game.

Scheduling is tough for both SMU & TCU. The 9 game big 12 schedule means one less date on the schedule for all Big 12 teams. For TCU, that probably doesn't hurt that much because they will have one more conference game as early as next year as Boise, Nevada, and Fresno enter the MWC. I see TCU dropping the FCS game against the 2A team. TCU is a credible home & home schedule for middle of the road & lower BCS opponents like Virginia - wanting to make a statement against a ranked opponent.

Jerry's world will be the preferred venue for major programs coming to DFW. So if Oklahoma, Arkansas, LSU, or the other Big 12 or SEC opponents want a game in DFW, the frogs & ponies will have to play "home" games in front of hostile crowds at the death star.

As june jones continues to improve the team, it means that the Baylors of the world have everything to lose and nothing to gain by scheduling a "mid-major" that might kick their arse. Scheduling is just one more weapon the major colleges will use against smaller schools.

I wonder how much the buy-out is? Baylor's going to have to write SMU a check.
