Really?? Can't SMU get excited about playing a rivalry game?
Give the good people at SMU credit; their Ponies are 18-point underdogs for their game on Friday night against No. 4 TCU but they are trying to convince the 15 people in Dallas who care about the team that this game may actually be a game.
There are "Beat TCU" t-shirts, yard signs, posters and window clings available. I'm calling this the equivalent of the "Mondale-Ferraro" campaign slogan that came up just one landslide victory short of defeating Reagan for the 1984 presidency slot.
There are now two "Beat TCU" banners which hang off the two sides of the Expressway Towers along Central Expressway, otherwise known as the Dallas Autobahn.
SMU is opening the south end of the stadium for $20 general admission tickets. The SMU peeps are projecting a crowd that should break the Ford Stadium mark of 34,749, which was set at the start of the '09 season.
For fans attending the game: SMU will open its will-call windows at Ford Stadium at 9 a.m. Fans are encouraged to pick up tickets in advance or arrive early on game day to avoid long lines at the will call windows and gates to Ford Stadium.

Mac Engel is a frog.
Hopefully the football team is as dismissive of SMU as he is going into the game so we can beat them.

at first I thought that was from killer frogs. Even in an online blog, who would think to publish something so unprofessional?

Agreed, I see no problem w/ being optimistic and supportive of our team.
There is no such thing as rational and measured support for one's team, and there shouldn't ever be. When that happens college football will no longer be exciting and meaningful.

Funny how some criticize SMU for unenthusiatic fans and small crowds, yet when we do get fired up for TCU we now hear about our fans going overboard.....

Mac Engle is a dork. He is as dismissive of TCU as Craig James is of SMU. If you see his name on a by-line, the article is probably not worth reading.

He is such a tool. I miss reading the old sports writers, Blackie Sherrod, Bob St. John, Frank Luksa and the rest. They wrote articles that were accurate and funny. Unlike the drive by's of today who know very little of somethings and a whole lot of nothing on most things.
Give Em H€LL, Mustangs!!!!!

Mac is a graduate of Kansas. LBOH is an alum of Mizzou. Both favor the Big 12-2.

Blackie Sherrod wasn't exactly a friend of SMU in the 60s-80s either except for an occasional mention in his scattershooting column. The only columnist who has ever truly given SMU the time of day is a guy most-including me don't really like Shock Jock Skip Bayless-the guy seemed intriqued with the uniqueness and contradictions of a great nationally competitive football program at a small wealthy private school like $MU that was taking it to the Big Boys of College Football. Can't stand listening to him about the Cowboys or the NFL but at least he didn't ignore us
