Is it me or is Gary Patterson an embarrassment....

I was watching the game at a bar and the game was on every tv here in LA, and I kept hearing everyone comment on him. He is just a sleazy clown on the sidelines making him the perfect fit at TCU!

Fat (surprising that he wears pants that are too small since the way he constantly tugs on them looks uncomfortable), walks like a pigeon, talks like someone with emphysema, is always sweating, yells at anyone within earshot. Sounds like an embarrassment, much like the misanthropic uncle from a generic, family-themed film.

I want to see his post-game video. And to answer the question to your subject line, yes. An embarrassment to pretty much everything related to class. (Gotta give him some credit on the field tho...)

He lives in a van down by the river, that's why.

Could one of the frogs buy the man some pants that fit!?!!??! Seriously, I got sick of seeing his rear end and his pants close to wedgy status! It was funny to see how that poor man was sweating (bricks according to my husband) before halftime. We said the locker room atmosphere at half-time would be night and day.

The thing about him that makes me shake my head is how he berates his assistant coaches. Last night he said he would have called a better play on the 4th and one at the end to close out the game but other than that the play calling was ok. Did he really have to belittle his OC like that? I recall when they got beat by Air Force a couple of years ago he blamed it all on his OC. He must have very low self esteem which would be unusual for a successful coach. He does very well but I appreciate the way Jones handles himself off the field much more.

JJ is a more experienced football guy having been where he's been, done what he's done, etc...but gotta give Pattterson credit for having taken what Fran got started and built it into something special for TCU.

I'm with JJ on this...can't wait for 2 years from now when TCU visits Ford and we line up a senior laden squad against them

just a few observations from College Station (via ESPN) about Patterson:

-the guy had a prepared team...
-he sweats...more when the game is tight...
-he hitches his britches more than George Allen used to lick his fingers on a sideline...
-he got in the grill of players and coaches when mistakes were made...
-he has built a powerhouse at a non-AQ school, one that arguably played its worst game, and yet still won(good adjustments at halftime)...

-and in spite of the incessant "style points" comments by the ESPN crew, Patterson ran the clock and ball the last 6 minutes of the game...happy to get out of Ford with a manageable win. Think Leach would have done that? Spurrier in his prime?

Patterson (IMHO) was exactly who we thought he was...and we let him get away...but with a lot less hubris and ego than some other good teams (and coaches) that have walked out with victories at Ford.

Until we beat TCU consistently again, let's lay off Patterson. Although, I kept wondering what that lime green sticker was that he had on his sleeve the first half. I thought he was now endorsing something, or touting that TCU was now "green". But I was curious about that. He sweated it off by the second half. He certainly has a different style than JJ. He screams at everyone all game. JJ teaches calmly. Reminds me of Tom Landry in his demeanor. Quiet cool and focused.

The patch is for some charity being supported by college coaches - they ran a commercial for the charity at halftime.

It is you. Patterson is intense and focused which rubs off on his players and coaches. Did you notice any of his players stupidly kicking the ball or punching offensive lineman and garnering any stupid penalties? He has toned it down compared to his earlier days. I think he would be more relaxed but the constant pressure TCU is under to win every game or "their season is a disappointment" he can't let up!
