Tap the Breaks on Undefeated Conference Talk

I am one of our biggest supporters, and really like our team and direction it is going. I want us to win out and win conference like everyone else. However, we need to be bit more realistic before we talk about winning out. We have a young team and our offense is not yet all on the same page. Our special teams have not been outstanding this year. We have avoided so far multiple injuries to key players. We have more road games left than home games, and funny things can happen on the road.

We will play at UTEP and at ECU which will not be easy, even with UTEP's problems. They have players (Buckram, etc.) and I don't think we have won in El Paso in long time. I like we get Tulsa and Houston at home, but Tulsa is much better this year and Houston still has good athletes. Our secondary has to play better against those 2 teams. Tulsa game scares me.

Lets just start by beating Rice on the road which I don't think we have done in years, then go on to the next one. Do I think we can win them all, you bet. But I also think nothing is a given. From where we have come in such a short time, I would take beating Rice this week and then getting to 7 or 8 wins again to be bowl eligible. Back to back 8 win seasons and a bowl game sounds good to me, conference champs would be better, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

EVen without Keenum Houston is good and the defense really is better. This is the key still to CUSA in my opinion.
Tulsa has a great O but a horrid D. We win that game.
ECU might well be an L but ECU has to go on the road to UCF (should have beaten K St) and S Miss. We could lose to them and might still host.

Hear, hear! This game against Rice is going to tell us a lot about our team. WE have had a very difficult time in Houston with Rice and if we don't play our best we will lose. We need to go down there very focused and play 60 minutes of good football. Not wake up in the second half, be behind and have to try to catch up.

One point. The *team* needs to focus on the coming game. We as fans are free to think bigger picture if we feel like it.

ponyboy is right. the players need to focus. the rah-rah fans are free to cheer however ebulliently as they please.

besides, you just contradicted the title of your post:

It will probably only happen if our O gets in sync Hawaii style otherwise it will be a pretty slim channce to win all of them.

yep.
I keep hoping for it all to kick in. Hope I'm not waiting the whole season.
speaking of which......did you see that Hawaii is now ranked #1 in passing offense. ugh...I mean, good for them, but we gotta climb up there.
