SMU fans resume their panic driven season

Some of the comments over the Rice game are ridiculous.

We're better than Rice and we'll win there and cover 9.5.

I liked these lines the best:

"You're right [insert name here], the Rice game scares the hell out of me.'' :?

"In 2005, we lost 66-8 the week after TCU.''

Exactly how many fatalists do we have on this board?

Knock it off, people!

Nope. I thought the Gophers were going to suck this year anyway. The Brewster era is a disaster. When he kept Adam Weber as his starting QB, I thought we could just chuck this season and get ready for 2011 with a new coach and a new AD.

Stadium was apparently half full for that Northern Illinois game.

We lost to some pretty cruddy Rice teams down in Houston the last 20 years, that should give anyone pause, we just never have played well down there for some reason.

I don't see a need to be confident, lets go in there like we are underdogs and fight our a$$e$ off like we need to play perfect to win it.

Do that, and the rest will take care of itself.

You don't see a need to be confident? What?

We weren't exactly bringing a group full of all-conference players down there either. Plus, we had some crappy coaching to go along with it.

Apparently, we also didn't bring a play to convert on fourth and goal at the one -- TWICE. :x

We're going to be fine.

This is a new era. I can see it. The four games should be enough visual evidence that it's coming.

These kids play for Jones (again, his offense drives me nuts) and they know how to win. Now, we need to develop a go-to WR, but I think by the end of the year, that's going to be Darius Johnson.

And I would suspect if Fields can continue to pick up everything, he will add to what is already a pretty solid running game.

we lost to EVERYONE the last 20 years. June has instilled confidence in these kids, and taught them how to expect to win. we as fans can do the same.

I do believe that contrary to popular opinion (or maybe not) GSP is far more arrogant and self-righteous than anyone on this board including Stallion. At least Stallion uses data to criticize others. GSP just takes a smugly superior attitude.

Nobody was panicing last time you posted this drivel, and nobody is panicing this time.

It took a blocked-kick touchdown to beat Rice at home last year.

We've haven't exactly lit the world on fire on offense.

We played TCU and Texas Tech tough. Rice played UT tough.

Sounds like we should be viewing this as a potentially tough match up not to be underestimated, just like everyone is doing.

I think couch'em is wrong.

We'll beat Rice and we'll cover the 9.5

I'll put it to you this way couch'em, if you don't think you can do it, then you've already lost. You respect your opponent but you also know that you have the better team to beat them. We have the better team.

Call it whatever you want. I call it confidence in this program.

And if we are not victorious, let no one come back alive.

your new Gophers' coach...Tony "saint" Dungy!

I am in complete agreement with Patton. Maybe it's because I have only been a fan since I became a freshmen in 2006, but jeez this Rice team sucks, and we should blow them out of the water.

Carefull not to start to sound more like Custer than Patton.

"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his!" -- Actual Patton
