Patterson revises method of firing up team after SMU game

Went to the DMN to find something on SMU/Rice, but found this instead:
TCU coach Gary Patterson said he plans to dump the method of inspiration he used last week in preparation for SMU. He thought his team came out flat, hence the reason a game against SMU that wasn't thought to be very interesting was into the second half.
Now, he's going the way of Crash Davis - boring, who once said, "Of course it's boring - write it down."
"I said a little of 'In the future' last week and you can see how well it worked out for us," Patterson said. "We're going back to the Gary Patterson philosophy of the seven-day window. We're only talking about the people we need to talk about. I tried to find a way to motivate them after an emotional game against Baylor and changed my philosophy a little bit; and it's kinda like trying to get an extra 10 minutes at the driving range when I was supposed to be doing something else. It just didn't work very well. So we're just going to worry about Colorado State this week."
The Rams are 1-3.

well, when you are a top 5 team in the nation, with a shot at the BCS championship or at a minimum a BCS bowl, doesnt it seem kind of odd that one would have the need to "fire up" one's team?

He sure does work the press.
How about SMU played well vs. TCU came out flat because I said a little of 'In the future' last week.
Ten years and he is still working on how to prep his team.
Does anyone believe this stuff?
Someone in FW needs to put his sweat towel in his mouth as his words are apparently causing the team to lose and what he says is not credible.

Yeah, I thought his comments were kinda insulting to SMU.

In about 2 more years, he's gonna wish he could use that "flat excuse." JJ's going to make it a tradition to kick their butt on a regular basis......In fact whats going to happen when Patterson looses all those Srs. next year ?

Maybe he should grab them by the facemask and yell at them.

everyone should know by now that Mac Engel is a complete moron. I check to see if this "contributor" posts are his and then move on. I really can't believe the DMN allows this. They must be short staffed.
He is a complete TCU homer and it shows in every post he makes.

Watch what happens to the Frog attendance when those seniors graduate and they suffer a few losses.

As we all know, Colorado State has been preparing for the TCU game since SPRING PRACTICE.

I wonder how much of that was Mac Engel and haw much was Patterson.
If it was Patterson all I have to say, "Shut up Tubby! Everytime you speak about SMU you look foolish. Stop searching for an excuse explaining why you didn't beat us by 60. No one who watched the game is going to buy it. Buy some larger pants, wash your sweat towel and worry about what is going on this week."
If it was more Engel I would tell him, "Stop playing Patterson's Skin Flute... He didn't even buy you knee pads for your birthday this year. There is another game coming up, spend more time looking at that. We know your opinion and limited capabilities... It is time to move on. The conference schedule is starting there is a long way to go in the season."
