Yeah, I had the same thought today when filming PonyPride and John Hampton's scouting report. If he could get into Rice, you wouldn't think grades would be an issue.

word was that he had some what I'll call personal issues and really thought it was important to return home to Houston

If he was looking to transfer after the 2008 season, I can see why Rice was a bit more appealing. They had just gone to two bowls in three years, and may have looked on the verge of creating a sustainable run, if only they had a four star running back to help them out. Not to mention that he's from Houston, so there's always that.

Correct. Rice was about 30 miles from where he grew up; A&M a little more than 60 miles. Hence why he chose Rice in the end. Kid wanted to be at home.

he is fast, elusive, and if you try and go low on him he will hurdle you.

He is good, we get hurt by home run guys like him. I hope he tries that hurdle stunt and banjo puts him on his [deleted]. Anyone know why he has just average stats so far? Quotes from the coach made it sound like they are trying to work him in. I would try to get that guy the ball from the get-go.

They've played 3 BCS schools. Rice is playing teams with better talent-that's why. Say what you want about schools like Baylor and Northwestern but they get better players than most CUSA teams. Baylor for example has 2 huge kids at DT one was a nationally recruited 4 star transfer from Penn St.

That does make you wonder about his 1.3 YPC against UNT.

Granted, he had 91 yards through the air in that game...

There is such a disproportunate(?) level of talent in high school, even in 5A, that a player who has prety good speed and works hard in the weight room can produce huge numbers and highlight reels if in the right offense. Me...I like Zach Line! Don't get carried away by the "you tube" craze. Where are Line's high school running back videos?
