Played twice as many plays than did the Owls. We are not deep.

The defense played fine, they didn't really start getting gashed until Mason started having them play prevent.

D was definately not fine. They were pretty consistently poor today. This is Rice - we should have stuffed them.

Defense was fine in my opinion.

We had a few quick scores and got them right back out there.

Hell, Rice may very well run one of the most imaginative offenses (save Houston) we face the rest of the way.

Defense is fine in my book.

The D tackled poorly today. Also I think when the game was put away and they were tired tey stopped playing. For the first 3 quarters they played pretty well

Only 10 points allowed through 3 quarters, they gave up a TD early in the 4th and didn't get scored on again until garbage time. You're right about the tackling, a lot of attempts at arm tackling instead of going for the legs and wrapping up like we saw in the first 4 games.

the 3rd down D was not ideal tonight. i don't recall a stop in the 4th quarter.

Rice got a whole lot of plays tonight. That could be why we looked so beat. I did see how exhausted T. Thompson and others looked towards the end. What was really great was the SMU turnout - we've been going to these games here in H-town for 30 years and this is the best SMU support we've seen. Thanks to those who made the trip from Dallas! Rice's turnout was pretty sad.

definately agree. this was the first game where I thought the tackling was lousy but despite that the D played great. Im chalking the late TDs to the prevent defense.

By 4Q they were obviously gassed. They had a lot more plays than the Rice D. Also Rice was running quite a few options which more tiring to defend. They will be okay next week.

GO PONIES!!!

I do not think you can give the D a pass because Rice got a lot of plays - the D is supposed to keep that from happening by stopping their offense. Granted, you cannot blame the D for the extra plays Rice got after the onside kick.
