Owls Nest at Rice Stadium...

Is there any reason why we couldn't have a Mustang 'Corral' at the open end of the stadium like the Owls Nest to have cold adult beverages in the open air and still cheer on the Mustangs?...that would be a great spot to grab a beer at the half and still watch the festivities and if maybe per chance we don't make it back....we can still yell and cheer for the Stangs.
It would also be additional revenue.

i think we had something like it a few years back during very lean times, near the scoreboard. might have been mustang club only. i remember that's where we got the SMU FOOTBALL caps.

additional revenue, and would keep fans in the game rather than going to the b'vard for beers at the half, and not coming back.

plus, then i wouldn't have to bring my flask in and drink whiskey. beer would be better to maintain a steady buzz rather than tune me up even more.

probably a question for the MC President. If it was MC only, that would definitely get us more members too.

Pain in the [deleted] getting people registered with the unicards (you have to get one for each game not an annual). UP doesn't make it easy to serve drinks.

UP has proposal on the ballot in November to drop the private club requirement. Cross your fingers...

Mayor has announced he will not support it because of a technicality in proposition.

They already did it and apparently people did not use it so they shut it down. I think they tried to get too fancy. They had food and free gifts, etc. It was air conditioned and even had a nice patio where you could sit and watch the game. Apparently it did not support itself.

The thing at Rice was about as unfancy as you could get. Chainlink fence, small area with cheap bar tables that have seen better days.
But you could get a beer and still watch the game - that's all that matters.

Use the system currently used in stadium club. Register and pay once for the season. Use wireless to connect to sw system. Agree - low key. No need to be over-the-top.

All they did the last time was mail the Mustang Club members a membership card. I do not know why that is so hard. It was just the same as eating at the boulevard tent now. It was just inside the stadium.

was there alcohol? All I remember was Plucker's wings, Jerry Bennett giving a pre-game talk, and everyone piling in to watch the Texas-Ohio State game while our game was at half.
