Texas Power Poll: Week 5TCU state's best team; Baylor climbs in latest Texas poll
Posted at 10:46 AM on Mon., Oct. 4, 2010 | Permalink | Yahoo! Buzz SportsDayDFW sports Bio | E-mail | News tips Still hasn't sunk in. Texas has only one ranked team in the AP Top 25. What the ...???!! How? With all of these good players, how does this happen? Maybe it's cyclical. Baylor is climbing; the Bears are 4-1 and are receiving votes. They could be in the Top 25 this time next week if they can beat Texas Tech this week in Dallas. Texas Power Poll: Week 5 1. TCU, 5-0. Scoring six points in the first-half of a shutout win at Colorado State didn't exactly impress anyone. Should look better this week at home against Wyoming. 2. Texas, 2-2. The final score against OU did not reflect how lopsided this game was. UT's offense just isn't very good right now. Have a bye before going to Lincoln for the We Hate You More Bowl against Nebraska. 3. Baylor, 4-1. Completely overmatched a bad Kansas team. A win this week against Texas Tech in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl on Saturday will be the win that Art Briles has been looking for. 4. SMU, 3-2. Ponies passing game in the win against Rice looked very June Jones-ish. Host Tulsa this week in their pursuit of a CUSA West title. 5. Texas A&M, 3-1. Hard not to think this is the same ol' Aggies after a heartbreaker in Stillwater. Can reverse those feelings by defeating Arkansas this week at JerryWorld. 6. Texas Tech, 2-2. Hard not to question everything after this weekend's performance in Ames. Have a season-defining game this week against Baylor. 7. UTEP, 4-1. Miners win again, and will be 5-1 this time next week after they beat Rice in El Paso. 8. Houston, 3-1. Had a bye and host Miss. State on Sat. night. With Case Keenum, maybe the Coogs' win. Without, highly doubtful. 9. Stephen F. Austin, 3-1. Had a bye and play McNeese State in a rather large Southland Conf. game this week. 10. Rice, 1-4. Not much to say here. 11. North Texas, 1-4. The Todd Dodge era is going to be remembered for some of the most impressively painful losses in school history. Host Arkansas State on Saturday. Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5Boo-yah. Is this the highest we have ever been ranked in this poll?
"smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5
probably but funny to see SFA above Rice and UNT
Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5
I bet Leroy is loving it. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5How is Mary-Hardin Baylor not ranked ahead of UNT?
Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5
or UTSA By the way Riley Dodge broke his hand in the last game so they will be using their 4th string QB
Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5We're ranked above a team who beat us. Cool.
We've never lost the tailgate.
Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5
When you lose [and give up 52 points] to a team who hasn't won a conference championship in football since 1912, you deserve to be ranked below the almighty Ponies. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5this is astounding that 1/3 of the way through the season Baylor is tied for the 2nd best record int he state

Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5I'm shocked that Mac Engel would rank us so high. After everything else he has written about us it must have been very, very painful. Unless he really wants people to notice us so TCU's strength of schedule goes up.
Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall
Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5Mac can't count to three, as evidenced by him saying Texas is 2-2 (they are 3-2). Of course, this is the same guy who said that SMU beating Rice would make us 3-0 in CUSA.
Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5
I thought we were ranked 3rd last week?
Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5I have seen both, and SMU is better than Baylor. Up 35-3 at halftime, we honestly could have put 60 on Baylor. They are a one man show and if you rattle him, they are sunk. Padron took a licking and kept on ticking.
Re: Texas Power Poll: Week 5How can Texas, with their overwhelming recruiting advantage, continuously sign 4- and 5-star players, then have trouble being ranked amongst the top-10 in the country?
