DALLAS (SMU) - SMU sophomore QB Kyle Padron was a unanimous selection by the league's media as the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today. Padron completed 24-of-32 for 371 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions as SMU won at Rice (42-31) for the first time since 1986.
Padron's 395 yards of total offense (371 passing, 24 rushing) ranks 11th all-time in a game for SMU.
Padron also garnered national attention, as he was named one of the Manning Award's five national Stars of the Week for his performance against the Owls.
Padron and his Mustang teammates host Tulsa in a huge Conference USA Western Division showdown on Saturday, Oct. 9. SMU sits tied atop the standings with Houston at 2-0 in league play, but Tulsa is just one game back of the two Texas schools at 1-1.
