A whole lot better than I thought.

Props to the Bus Brigade, FCA kids, and Tulsa fans.

Particularly when the Rangers were playing in a playoff game and there were so many other big college football games in the area.

Nice of Tulsa to bring their band. Always makes for a better atmosphere when the visitors bring their band. That was always one of the great things about the SWC, the visiting band adds to the atmosphere and you leave with a better sense of the tradition of our conference mates.

Anyone know out of the 19k+ how many Tulsa brought?

SMU student section looked pretty weak on the live shots

There were maybe 2000 or so Tulsa fans.

This is fall break, so many students went home this weekend.

The stands were kinda dead tonight. Nothing energized the crowd at any given point, it seemed.

The message board is pretty tame tonight too. Huh.

1. 19K is WAY inflated.
2. Tulsa probably brought 2K, but that includes their band. (Still wondering about those glittery hats...)
3. I hate sitting in the blue-hair section but had to because of family, tho the old lady sitting in front of me was yelling as much as I was. Looking forward to being away from there for Houston.
4. 3-0 conference. Ready for the students to be back to see us go 4-0 in two weeks.

Hope they had a good time. Mom's meatloaf. Wearing the frat shirt to the HS football game. Golly, most had not had a day off in more than a week. The true Red & Blue fans were at the game.

Noticed there was little student attendence. Of note one of those students not attending was with me camping (with the rest of the family) this weekend. Given our short history of success, a 19k+ crowd during a school holiday isn't bad. Seems the more involved the students are, the more enthused the rest of the crowd. Doesn't surprise me that the atmosphere seemed muted without a strong student section.

Their band was disrespectful while SMU tryed to play the alma mater...the SMU at least had the respect to not play until they had theirs almost done, but the Tulsa band continued playing loud while ours was attempted...low class IMO

helluva a lot better than Wash State. Much better than I thought it would have been.
Can it be FCA night on every home game? :)

I actually think that number looked spot on. There were a ton of people on and around the hill, and every time I went to the concourse, the place was packed. Way bigger than the lines at the TCU game, because SMU decided to open as few concession windows as humanly possible.
