I'm glad we won, but......we didn't look very solid.
There were at least 3 long plays that the Tulsa offense should have connected on. 2 were dropped, and 1 the receiver either couldn't locate the ball or was clueless and didn't correct his route but he had us beat. There were several others where Kinne had a receiver open but overthrew him. Our secondary was just flat out dreadful tonight. Our punt return has GOT to improve. Another muffed punt, Johnson doens't seem to know when he should call for a fair catch. On one, Crawford was limping to get back and get ready to return the punt. Not sure why we wouldn't call a timeout and put someone else back there. Why don't we put Fields or Butler back there? How many chances are we going to give someone before it finally costs us a game. But the good news is that we have now become a team that is good enough to win a game when we shouldn't, vs. being a bad team that should win a game but couldn't.
Re: I'm glad we won, but...Hey, support these kids. Period! We won! The Tulsa players did not catch the ball. We won. We scored more points than they did. We won! We kept the other team from scoring more points than we did. WE WON!!!!!!!!! GREAT JOB MUSTANGS!!!
Re: I'm glad we won, but...Hey, I offered up the good news at the bottom, what more do you want? he he
Re: I'm glad we won, but...The good news is that their #7 receiver has BRICKS for hands when trying to catch the long
ball. ![]() Wouldn't want him in the Ranger outfield. ![]() May the forth be with us.
Re: I'm glad we won, but...There were 4 plays were Tulsa's receiver were running free in our secondary for home run balls. That's too many

Re: I'm glad we won, but...We are lucky that their receivers missed a few long passes or else the score very probably would have been different. Also we are shooting ourselves in the foot w/stupid penalties! Glad we came out w/the Win!
Re: I'm glad we won, but...Crawford in particular got toasted a few times, and seemed to take a step back from his improved play the last couple of games. He looked like his hip was bothering him or something, walking with a noticable limp.
Re: I'm glad we won, but...
That was just enough.
Re: I'm glad we won, but...
Announcers said that his back went out after a punt return (he replaced DJ after the muff). He did return to play but did no more punt returns. Chiropractor on the sideline said that Crawford would be visiting him a lot this next week. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: I'm glad we won, but...
ya after his first punt duty, he came to the sidelines and collapsed next to the bench and the trainers worked on him...it looked like tehy put heating pads on his back...that was also the area he was touching when showing where the pain was
Re: I'm glad we won, but...Back spasms....Crawford is getting better..he spends alot of time watching film..Bog Hoss lead with the good THEN blast out the critical stuff..LOL
The SMU defense did just enough to win and the drive from the O was the game changer because after that Tulsa scoring drive and 2 point conversion, there would have been NO way we would have stopped them if they got the football back. They were rolling and called a great series with plenty of misdirection and Kinne was right on with his passes. Thank heaven for the O and Zach Line!
Re: I'm glad we won, but...I will say when you lose the turnover battle, are on the wrong side of the field position battle, have a QB not playing his A game, and still win the game it means you are truely a better team. Better coached and more more talent its been a long time SMU could say that about anyone So that makes me Glad.
Beat Navy...Pony UP!
Re: I'm glad we won, but...Yes some receivers ran free and we were fortunate. Perhaps by pressuring the QB and forcing him to run for his life, his passes were off target.
Also, our "not A game" QB threw for almost 400 yards and our poor defense (including all the complaints on the official game thread) held the # 8 offense to 18 points including a short field on their opening drive for 7 of the points. Do you guys kick your dogs after every win? All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand

We had horrible punting and kickoffs giving them good field position most of the night and they had to pull out trick plays because most of the time their offense was stagnant. They had decent rushing yards but not because we werent there to make the play but because we tackled poorly. Padron also missed a few long passes and Beasley didnt see one that he probably would have taken to the house if he would have caught it. Those plays happen every game if the recievers dont drop balls and the QB doesnt miss receivers then the QB's completion percentage would be 100% every game. Like JJ said is the post game Kyle had a decent game but could have passed for 700 yards (sarcasm on JJ's part) if he would have been more accurate.
