Hawaii 49 - Fresno State 27

Postby SoCal_Pony » Sun Oct 10, 2010 1:14 am

Big win on the road for UH.

They are now 4-2 with games against San Jose State, New Mexico and UNLV.

If for whatever reason SMU falters (4 of our last 6 games are on the road)....look for the match-up so many people wanted last year.

Not a bad reward for our players, either.

If we get to 7 and don't win the conference we'll be in the Armed Forces Bowl. No way we go to Hawaii 2 straight years.

I'm ready for Hawai'i AGAIN. It's a great trip for the holidays. Players and fans love it. Not much of a reward to stay in Dallas. B-O-R-I-N-G. Hope we can play the Rainbow Warriors.

Hawaii's offense seems to be better than ours.

I'll be in Memphis with the Mustangs.

It is better than ours, they have better, more experienced receivers and a more decisive QB.

I don't think ESPN would hesitate at all to invite SMU back to Hawai'i...it's the matchup they want, it's the matchup Hawai'i wants, and June and his staff wouldn't object at all (neither would I...mai tai's anyone?).

But, here's to wishing for a frigid New Year's Eve game in Memphis...

I don't think ESPN invites teams to bowls, I think the bowl selection process is handled by bowl directors, conference commissioners and athletic directors.

I for one want a bowl game in the continental United States. It is a) difficult to take time off from work b) at an awkward time as far as spending time with family and Christmas and c) too expensive for me to justify the cost. Attendance will be much better with a game that can be driven to or flown to cheaply.
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.

Potential is nothing, performance is everything.

Yes, and networks have nothing to do with it when teams decide to play on thursdays or fridays either...

ESPN owns the Hawaii Bowl and a lot of the other lower-paying bowl games.

Senior Greg Salas has simply been amazing the past 2 seasons.
Last season: 106 receptions, 1590 yards, 8 TDs
This season (6 games): 50 receptions, 757 yards, 7 TDs

Senior Kealoha Pilares has also been amazing this season.
Last season: 66 receptions, 690 yards, 4 TDs
This season (6 games): 45 receptions, 726 yards, 9 TDs

Both were on JJ's last team (2007) in Hawaii.
