Worst call of the night?

I vote for the play where they ruled Padron down when everyone in the stadium except the ref saw that he clearly wasn't.

Absolutely. Worst call among several bad ones. Wondering when C-USA will try to invest in refs that can call a game.

I think it was just a standard reaction for him to blow the whistle. It sounded like he tried to stop himself because the whistle blow was about half a$$ed. Still, terrible call.

I could clearly see on the All Access replay that his knee did not hit, so you know it was not a close call. Just a case of referee anticipation that was wrong.

you could tell it wasn't a full blow on the whistle

I thought since they now have replay they are supposed to swallow their whistles and go to replay after it is over to determine if he was down

If that ref tried to swallow his whistle, he certainly made up for it by frantically running to the spot while emphatically stabbing his finger into the ground where he "thought" he saw KP's knee hit.

Noticed he didn't look at the big video board during the THREE times they ran the replay. I think the chorus of boos being rained down on him was enough to let him know he screwed up.

I thought the worst call of the night was JJ calling a pass play on 3rd and six inches in the third quarter on our own twenty. But he corrected it in the fourth by getting Kyle under center and handing it to Line who barreled for a couple of yards for the first down.

JJ has consistently passed and even gone long on 3rd and short no matter where the ball is. That is the run and shoot philosophy. JJ is not a conservative, by the book play caller.

Im not saying I disagree with the whole philosphy im just saying when it is 3rd and inches and you have a 230lb running back who has not been tackled for loss but a few times it wouldnt be a horrible idea to give it to him, or even a 6'4" 230lb QB a qb sneak might be an option. I believe if JJ could have that play back he would maybe run the ball like he did in the 4th quarter. I love the run and shoot it is exciting and fun to watch but when your O line for the most part has been handling their Dline that is a definite running play.

Everybody around me at the game, predicted he would pass on that particular play. That is what he does. He has so much confidence in the ability of his offense to score at will that he will give up a fairly sure 3rd down conversion to gamble on getting a big play. Roll the dice. i am getting use to it.

Did anybody notice that our clock guy did not stop the clock at the end of the first half when we made a first down? The refs were waving to stop the clock and it kept running. We were driving and lost 15-20 seconds. It did not matter when Line lost the ball, but as home team we should have our clock give us the benefit of the doubt - right?

They also kept the clock running early in the 4Th quarter after a play when it wasn't necessarily good that the clock run......we should have the benefit as a home team....clock guy is not on top of his game.

Our history is rather mixed. We won our only national championship on a pass play against TCU. Our Heisman winner was a runner. Our Pony Express heyday was due to running. Our other excitements and wins have been passing (Benner, Meredith, Hixon, Ford, Various Romos).

We have a mix of success. We have such a varied tradition (pinnacle of success and Death Valley of failure) that we have such a variety of tradition.

JJ puts other Ds in a predicament because he doesn't have a tradition formula for winning. Not unlike our history.
