Tulsa Media

Postby RE Tycoon » Sun Oct 10, 2010 3:32 pm

Pretty good chuckle if you watch these videos. The Tulsa "media" loves them some Golden Hurricanes. Notice the leading questions, the pep talk questions, the ubiquitous use of "we" (as in we had them on so and so play), and of course my favorite, asking a question to Todd Graham that was essentially urging fans to show up the next week at the Tulane game.

Far different than what we deal with here in Dallas

I'll view these later but what I would expect is: we only lost by 3 and we had 2 FGs blocked and had all those TD passes that just missed. We should have won by a mile...

Thanks, Tycoon — I hadn't thrown up recently, but those clips solved that little problem.

First, those reporters should be fired. That "we" crap is inexcusable. Hell, even Rich Phillips and John Hampton (who played for SMU) are employed by SMU but don't do that "we" bit. How any program director can allow that is beyond me.

And don't get sucked in by Graham. He is every bit the snake Patterson is. When he referred to Saturday's game as "a game we should have won," I wanted to throw my computer out the window. SMU didn't even play all that well and still was the better team by a margin greater than the final score. Graham should have said "the better team won" and then packed up and gotten on the bus. He's a decent coach, but nowhere near the coaching star some idiots in the Oklahoma media make him out to be.

Todd Graham -- "This is the best defense we've played in our conference.''

Pretty good at this level. Should get better with more experience and depth.

They are homers because there is nothing else in Tulsa to root for.

Having grown up in Tulsa
Let me tell you about Tulsa Sport Coverage on the 10:00 News
They start with complete OU coverage and tell you about the minutia of Stoops' day and how great they are....
Then they cover Arkansas and how they could have won if it weren't for the biased Texas refs....
Then they refer to OSU how they Agged-out
Then they tell you to see the web site for the TU and ORU Scores.
If you live a long life,
It will be a testament to your friends' self control

Didn't grow up in Tulsa, but close enough. That's what I remember, too.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.
