Should Boise State be ranked #1

Postby Mestengo » Thu Oct 14, 2010 6:43 pm

The argument many hold is strength of schedule.
But my position is how are you going know if you don't get to play?

They've handled all comers for two years now. No one else can say that.

Thus far they've played a tougher schedule than Ohio State and Oregon, so right now they should be #1. Oregon or OSU will probably leap them once conference matchups occur. But Ohio State will have their usual slip-up game against Purdue or someone then It'll be between Oregon and TCU.

I'll agree that Boise State should be No. 1, and maybe Oregon as No. 1A.

Admittedly, I detest TCU, but all bias aside, I still can't get past the fact that they're overrated. Without delving into the mathematical "formula" used for the BCS rankings, I'd have to say that on neutral fields, Boise State, Oregon, Ohio State, Alabama, Oklahoma and the endlessly-lucky LSU (if not more) seem to be far more impressive teams than the damn Froggies. Can't point too many fingers, of course — they keep winning. But they just don't look as impressive as those other teams. Who is it that talks about "passing the eyeball test"?

Ohio State currently should be not be their because they only play 2 or 3 ranked teams the entire year

I would like to see Boise get a shot at a title game. Peterson and his staff can win in any one time game, like a bowl. I don't know if they would run the table in the Big XII, but for one game and a month to prepare they can compete with or beat anyone.

I bet the BCS big wigs are freaking out about Alabama losing. What the heck is this system going to do if Boise, Ohio State, TCU and Oregon go undefeated?

Easy, have Oregon and OSU play each other, make the non-AQ's play each other again. Sun rise, sun set.

that would be easy...Ohio St plays Oregon for the national championship and Boise plays TCU in the runner up bowl. The freak out comes if OU or Nebraska or Auburn or LSU is also unbeaten.

In the end, I'm a total hypocrite about the BCS. I'll [deleted] and whine, but if we ever get a seat of the table, I'll never say another bad word about it.

I don't know what will happen but I think it would be lame if tcu and Boise had to play again. Let them both have a shot at the big boys so when they win the bcs gets exposed for the unfair monopoly it is

If, and a big if, Auburn or LSU go undefeated, they will be in the BCS Title game. That's a given. Bama may make it with one loss.

Nebraska has a slight chance as well.

Tough for Ohio St. and Michigan St. in that they don't play each other. Both could slip, but man that would be a good game.

Look for the SEC to play Oregon in Glendale.

Go Ponies! Big chance for a great win.

This is the major flaw of the BCS. What if 4 AQ schools go undefeated? There can only be one champion and 2 schools/conferences will be extremely ticked off.
