Most Impressive Player

Kyle Padron, SMU quarterback

In a league that was supposed to be the Case Keenum Heisman showcase this season all eyes have shifted elsewhere as Keenum suffered a season ending injury early on. One quarterback who has emerged from the shadow of Keenum has been Southern Methodist's Kyle Padron.

Padron is the conference's top rated passer with a 140.2 pass efficiency rating. He has thrown for 1,564 yards (14th in the nation) and 16 touchdowns (leading the conference). Against Washington State Padron threw for a season high four touchdowns but in the higher profile games Padron's offensive production has been limited. TCU held Padron to his second lowest passing yardage total this season at 169 yards. Texas Tech stymied Padron with three interceptions in the season opener. He has been intercepted twice since that game.

Padron should be ok in Conference USA play as he and the Mustangs may now be the team to beat with Houston falling back to the pack.
