Good for him! But when one player on your Defense has that many tackles, its usually a negative stat. Why are the other guys standing around and letting him make the tackles? Who led the nation in tackles last year? Carmin Messina of New Mexico.

Good young player. Can't believe they ask those lb's to stop the run but then to defend the pass on deep routes. I noticed Reed defending a Navy receiver 50 yards down the middle of the field at the start of the third quarter that let Navy out of a 3rd and 17 at their own 10. After that reception letting them out of the hole and botching the fg snap right before half the big mo was on their side for the rest of the game.

Good point. Im not sure how our defensive system is set up but it seems like I have seen our LBs running VERY deep to cover recivers down the deep middle of the field. I attributed it to lack of corners which means we never go into nickel and LBs are forced more often int ocoverage but Im not sure if that is the whole issue.

Reed was laying some timber out there this weekend. He is one hard-hittin' backer!

I still contend our safeties are not strong in pass coverage. Excellent in run support but lacking height and speed for pass coverage.

The defense is designed for LBs to make the plays. And Reed is doing just that. I would much rather have a LB leading the team in tackles than a safely or corner. And we have had that plenty of times until recently.
Reed is quietly a force. We were all worried about the loss of Chase Kennemer from last year’s team. Not to worry now. Reed is the real deal.

JG and Reed are already a force to be reckoned with, and we get 2 more years of these guys improving and wreaking havoc. I LIKE

Reed was awesome sat and JG was his regular destroyer self. It has been fun watching our linebackers play this year- add in Fleps and Yenga...those are some good players.

It is good to see LBs leading the tackling. Much better than safeties doing it.
Also, with the OLBs generally going after the QB, or in the case of Navy, defending the option, it is great to see TReed stopping the plays up the middle and elsewhere.
