JJ at the top of CU's wish list?Apparently, June hasn't reciprocated the love yet.
From a buddy of mine in the athletic department there. He expects it to heat up as the season winds down or if it looks like SMU won't win the CUSA.
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?I don't see JJ going to CU, for a variety of reasons.
1) JJ has repeatedly said that SMU would be his last coaching stop, save for the right job in the NFL. 2) I don't see CU being able to pay JJ enough to go. 3) JJ doesn't wear socks, and after awhile, that would get mighty tough to do in Boulder (too cold).
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?other than money..
Why would JJ leave a program that he wanted to come to that he is quickly building into a conference champion to go to a program that has not had any success since 2001/2, and is entering a conference where it will get routinely smoked by the likes of Oregon, USC, Arizona, etc. Probably reported by the BR. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."

Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?
CU hasn't even fired Hawkins yet. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?I live in Denver and there is Zero talk of JJ going to CU. Names like Bill McCartney(old CU glory days coach), Dave Logan(local hero/Alumni/Best High School Coach in Colo), Eric Bienemy (Former RB from National Championship team/RB Coach for Vikings and Troy Calhoun (Air Force HC). I highly doubt JJ would be at the top of the list, if on it at all. I also highly doubt he'd want to go there.

And you wonder why ![]() Just send 'da money.
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?Hawkins needed to win 9 or 10 games to stay, and that just won't happen. They are 3-3 and still face NEB, OU, K-State. They have a chance against Tech, Kansas and Iowa State. Although CU doesn't know how to win road games so Kansas will be a loss. They'll be 5-7 at best. Fired, hopefully before the end of the season so they can get a leg up on the coach search. Hawkins is god-awful...CU hired the wrong man from Boise.

Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?
Isn't McCartney fully engrossed in some sort of ministry activities these days? Seems like he left football to pursue that path. Don't know if he'd be willing to return to football.
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?Thats some bad information frogman..JJ hasn't finished what he intends to here. mZero chance...
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?Mac has made it known that he would be seriously interested in coming back to Boulder. The organization you're thinking of is Promise Keepers, he left the Buffs to focus on that in the mid-90s. He is 70 and wants one more shot at coaching (CU would be the only place he'd go). I think Bill Snyder going back to K-State makes him think he still can do it. As kid who grew up in Colorado, I'd love to see it. Program has been slowly dying since he left, Mac > Neuheisal > Gary Barnett > Dan Hawkins.

Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?colostang, I read the Denver Post online every morning, used to live in Crested Butte and there is zero mention of JJ at CU. As you have mentioned, other names are being mentioned. To begin with, I doubt CU could pay as much as JJ and his staff make. Besides, he would have to wear socks in Boulder in the winter.
