Now, get the backups repsWe will not score 3 tds. Time to rest some of our injured and get the backups, including the QB McDermott, some reps.
Stick by what I posted before at beginning of season -- we will not win at UTEP nor ECU. In fact they may not be close.
Re: Now, get the backups repsUnfortunately, there is going to be a mass panic on this board. People are going to quickly realize that this team is not ready. Hopefully we can get wins against Tulane and Marshall because the back part of this season could really destroy some hopes (including mine)
Re: Now, get the backups repsThe panic after this game will be somewhat justified as my prediction at the start of the season included a loss to UH lead by Case Keenum not a loss to the UH team that is playing with its 3rd/4th string QB that is coming off a humbling loss to Rice. I am not panicking as I still expect 6-6, but am very disappointed that they did not close out Navy and now did not show up on Homecoming day. Looking more and more like we really are 10 years behind TCU.
Re: Now, get the backups repsStop panicking. The fact that you thought we would be a conference championship team this year shows how little you know about Jones and the Run and Shoot. We have no depth. When Sterling goes down, there is no one to replace him. Sure, Crawford has made huge strides, but overall one player going down can change the whole game. Sterling brought a swag to the field that the defense has not been able to find since he left. Also, KP is young and thinking too much. This will change as he matures. The WR's need to be more consistent so that KP can learn to trust them. He started getting that with Bease at Rice, but it has fallen apart as of recently. We are not ten years behind TCU, we almost beat TCU remember? We have just hit a wall because we have not had a bye to let our team recover. We are small and fast, but we do get beaten down my bigger more powerful teams. That will change as we start to capitalize on our speed. Stop being ignorant and realize that change takes time. Be a real fan and support them. Crawford is growing every week and KP learns more from losing than he does from winning. He has only played in maybe 12 games and is doing significantly better with this offense than Bo ever did. Between the weather messing us up and what is mentioned above, we are struggling for sure, but JJ and KP will turn it around. Patience is the key here.
Re: Now, get the backups reps" Stop being ignorant " Spoken from a guy who thinks we almost beat TCU. After re-watching the game a few times it wasnt as bad the next day. I know , I know......... But I am hopeful today.
Re: Now, get the backups repsMcDermott gets his reps in practice. We are going to stick with what we've got. The backup QB is always the crowd favorite - If he was the better QB he wouldnt be the backup.

Re: Now, get the backups repsI say put Acker back in at punt return. He did fumble one at Tech but that was not a muff.

Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: Now, get the backups repsThis I posted during the game. Meant get backups reps when the game was out of hand, one to get them some live game experience, but two to avoid injuries to your starters. We have little depth if any so if game at a point it can not be won, why not let 2nd stringers take the reps and get your starters extra rest for next one ??
Re: Now, get the backups reps
Good. We gave TCU a very good run for their money. Had we played like we did at Hawaii throughout the game, not just in spurts as we did, we would have won. I agree that Acker should be put back in. He is a smart football player with a lot to offer. He had one mistake, how many has DJ had? DJ will never be the next Emmanuel, ever. DJ is a CHILD that has no concept of what is happening. He is too busy thinking about getting laid and rapping than he is about his future and the future of this team. Take him and his weak mentality out. We have other great receivers who can fill his role for a minute. This worked for Emmanuel and should work for DJ. He is inconsistent cocky about it. One of these days he will understand. Sure, he is productive and makes some incredible catches, but throw it right to him and he drops it. You are a division 1 receiver, please be consistent.
Re: Now, get the backups reps
We are not that fast (and definitely not as fast as Houston) but we are improving our speed. Last edited by SMU 86 on Mon Oct 25, 2010 2:03 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Now, get the backups repsTouche...KP needs to learn by both winning and losing, but my point about patience is valid. We as fans cannot expect to go from barely becoming bowl eligible to winning conference. That is not realistic. With more patience, we will be able to see the improvements and not focus on the failures. We are getting better. Before JJ we had no chance of winning now, we go into each game with a legitimate shot. That is a marked improvement.
Re: Now, get the backups repswe don't need to be worrying about getting reps for the backups...we need to worry about becoming bowl eligible and keeping the rebuilding momentum moving in the right direction
Re: Now, get the backups reps
OK, my thought is that maybe Acker should be the starting punt returner and not a backup for the very reason you mention. ![]() Go Ponies!!
