You can blame others in a route where the ball has left his hands and has a predetermined landing target. But you have to adapt to change fast and put it where its going to count .
The line is giving him PLEnTY of time 4 + seconds are you kidding me?
Things aren't always as black and white as that. There was a play today where Houston was blitzing the world. Nobody on Beasley. He looks over and expects Beasley to cut his route off and sit in the open area for a quick pass, but Beasley runs straight up the field, never looks back. Padron has no chance and is sacked.
On another play, Beasley runs a curl, then starts running outside. He is supposed to come straight back, not side to side. Kyle throws a pass that looks like it is behind the WR, but it is really right at where Beasley should be making the adjustment to.
Not saying that KP isn't having problems, he certainly is. And it is painful to watch, especially when that first read fails, he starts to run, then remembers that JJ doesn't want him to run, so then he looks at a third option, and then gets stripped from behind after like 5 seconds.
But, what I am going to suggest is that he is a young, very inexperienced player who is suffering from not having NFL level playmakers around him in Sanders and McNeal. JJ wants to win as much as anyone on here. He proved last season that he doesn't get married to a QB. If McDermott was the answer, he would be in there by now. But either he isn't or JJ thinks Padron is close.
His stats last year in 7 games:
135/201, 67.1%, 1922, 10 TD, 4 INT
His stats this year in 8:
177/301, 59%, 2136, 21 TD 8 INT
I would take a lot of things from that:
1) He is being asked to bear a lot more of the burden of the offense, with more attempts per game.
2) Yards per completion is down because of McNeal and Sanders.
3) TDs are way up because we are asking him to throw in the redzone instead of giving it to McNeal.
4) Obviously, the increase in INT and decrease in percentage are the main concerns.
I guess I would place that more on the receivers than I would by claiming he has hit some magic glass ceiling. He is still a young kid. Flashback to BLM if you need to remember how a bad QB looks in this offense, regardless of the quality of receiver.
