After the loss to Houston this weekend, both writers now have us playing in the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl in St. Petersburg, FL. One has us against South Florida, while the other has us playing Louisville. Let's just beat Tulane!

0% chance of SMU playing in that bowl

Hawaii's offense looks much, much better than ours.

I'm gun shy; I need a win to build my confidence.

That's an understatement, this year's Hawaii team is running the R&S better than any JJ team save for the 2006 team. Their defense has also taken huge leaps since getting ran over by USC in the opener. If somehow we get stuck playing them in the Hawaii Bowl they will beat the living crap out of us.

You mean the 2009 Nevada team that was missing several starters when they played SMU in the Hawaii Bowl and had the worst pass defense in FBS? If the Hawaii-SMU Hawaii Bowl matchup occurs we'd pretty much be playing a road game in front of a hostile crowd against a team perfectly equipped to exploit our weaknesses.

Agreed. They will try and take UCF obviously. IF we don't go to Hawaii, we will go to Armed Forces Bowl or NO.

Hawaii would take a giant dump on us if we played them.

thinking out loud
if we beat Tulane...and...beat Marshall
and we lose to UTEP....lose to ECU
what happens at 6-6?
do we probably go to a bowl or probably stay home?
if we go bowling at 6-6...what bowls at 6-6 would we be looking at?

there is a very real possibility of a 2 way or 3 way tie for Championship EVEN if SMU goes 6-6 (5-3). Look at Houston's schedule-they still have Tulsa, UCF and Southern Miss not to mention Texas Tech

If we finish 6-6, then lose the conference championship game and end up 6-7, are we still eligible?

So we could actually for example play ECU in the final game of the year and have
to travel back to ECU the following week for the Conference Championship?

Also lets say that scenario happened & we went to ECU at 6-6 for the Conference
Championship and lost two weeks in a row to them...we would then be at 6-7.
Would that hurt our chances of getting a bowl invite worse than being 6-6
and not going to the Conference Championsship?
