I would love to the Line and Fields show this weekend if Tulane's pass D is really that great. This seems like a great game to use the run to open up the pass. Go Ponies!

Do not forget that JJ's philosophy is all about execution. He will not change what he does just to meet the challenge of a good pass defense. Instead, he will challenge his offense to start executing better.

Last year we alternated with Line and Shawnbrey. Don't understand why we can't do the same with Line and Fields. :o

Did you see what happened to Romo Monday night? One young back messed up on a simple blocking assignment and the QB is gone. I am sure that when Jones feels comfortable with both Fields and Pope, they will get their chances but for now we are just stuck with the leading rusher in CUSA and a QB with 7 seconds to throw.

mrydel- are you saying that Shawnbrey was a good blocker? I saw what happened to Romo but would hope that our backs are a little more astute. I am happy with Line but think a change of pace might be good for a few plays.

We could discuss pros and cons all day. I trust the coaches with on field personnel. But the fact is that Line fits the R&S mold, leads the conference in rushing, and is helping in giving our QB plenty of time to throw. I do not have any problem with Line in the backfield and also look forward to the maturation of both Fields and Pope.

No problem. I like Line and am glad he is doing so well. I just happen to feel a change of pace might confuse the defense a little.

I do not think Fields would be a change of pace. He is not a quick shifty back like McNeil was. Where Fields will shine is his speed when he gets around the corner or through the first wave of the defense. And I think he will be very good. But his initial start will not be that much different than Line's abd it is set up with the pass. Which is why he needs to be abke to block.
