Emmanuel Sanders named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Congrats to SMU alum Emmanuel Sanders, who was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Sanders led the league in kick return yards with 144 on five attempts during Pittsburgh's 23-22 win over the Miami Dolphins. His 48-yard return in the 4th quarter helped set up Jeff Reed's game-winning kick.

Nice! He's doing what he needs to do as a rookie, and that's make an impact on special teams. Hopefully it leads to him getting more looks on offense.

he had some great ko returns in that game the last of which went past the 50 giving them the chance to score and win the game.

good example for our team to learn from. His first return he muffed and was recovered by the Dolphins. He pressed on, overcame that setback and turned it into a POW performance

Maybe our punt returning problems are just a curse* of SMU - he fumbled a punt against TCU last year which gave TCU a lot of momentum.

*I don't believe in curses.

I saw him blocking a defender at the goal line as Hines Ward (or might've been another receiver) ran past to score a TD. Great downfield blocking by ES.
