Re: Zach LINE
Wow, that would be a he11 of a game!
Re: Zach LINEWhen did Shawnbrey break the 1,000 yard mark last year? I feel like Line is ahead of him because I'm pretty sure it was one of the last games of the regular season.
Re: Zach LINE.. needs to stop coughing it up.
Some great runs in 2nd half.
Re: Zach LINEJune Jones 1999-2008: Zero 1,000 yard rushers.
June Jones 2009-2010: Two 1,000 yard rushers.
Re: Zach LINEWhen will we see Fields or Pope???? Pope played in the first game on one play. Does that burn his red shirt??
Re: Zach LINE
Yes the red shirt was burned, and I would imagine that you will see them when they learn their blocking assignments and prove they can do better than the CUSA leading rusher. They will see plenty of time at SMU but their RB coach said they did not have their blocking assignments down yet. Plus Fields is speaking in a very high voice this week due to a well placed kick. Re: Zach LINELine needs to do a better job holding on to the ball. I dont remember him fumbling at all last year and up until a few weeks ago he hadnt this season but he has fumbled in 3 of the last 4.
His runs at the close of the game were huge in the victory however. ![]()
Re: Zach LINE
I was thinking that I had read somewhere that a non-injury related red shirt could be maintained if the action was limited and involved playing only in non-conference games. At any rate, I am aware that both Pope and Fields have been slow to learn their pass blocking assignments; however, figured JJ would design a few running plays each game to give them some experience. I guess Tony Romo knows what it is like to have a rookie back miss his blocking assignment.
Re: Zach LINEAs far as I know it is still one play burns the red shirt. Line is doing better than any other back in CUSA and there is no reason to change. Big money would have been put on Buckram from UTEP to be the best of the best this year but injuries have taken him down a lot. Same thing could happen to Line next year, but as long s he is the best on the filed i am happy with him. Personally I wish they would go back to not allowing freshman to play again. They need that first year to acclimate to school and the upgrade of the game.
I am a little surprised that they do not at least use Pope on special teams. It is possible that his knee is just not strong enough to participate at the D-1 level at this time. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Zach LINELine has been incredible. Yes, the fumbles against Tulane sucked, but it's not like he doesn't know that he needs to hang on to the ball. No way he fumbles against UTEP.
He's the leading rusher in the conference by a mile. After the 170-something he ran up on Tulane, he's averaging 102 a game. The next best are Ronnie Weaver (UCF) and Bryce Beall (UH), who are putting up 79.8 per game. What I have liked in the last couple of games that I have seen is that Line seems like a really mature runner — he waits for openings to emerge, he waits for his blockers to do their job and give him room. Watching that, it's sometimes easy to forget that he is just a sophomore. Team MVP, thy name is Zach Line. ![]()
Re: Zach LINELine reminds me of the way Steve Worster used to run from the fullback position in the Texas wishbone.
Re: Zach LINEZach is up to #12 in the nation in rushing yards, by the way.
Re: Zach LINE
If you take off the two QB's on that list, then Line is a top 10 RB this year. That is pretty incredible. Great for Line. PONY UP!
