JJ McD getting some repsI definitely did not have a problem with June putting JJ in for a few reps vs. Tulane... I'm just wondering why he would only do it for 1 down at a time.
Any word on what his objective/reasoning was?

Re: JJ McD getting some repsDoes anyone know of any other team in the country where the qb goes to the sideline to talk with the head coach/QB coach/ offensive coordinator between plays and how in the world does June handle all those duties for the qb and his offense? Amazing. Maybe he just wants Padron over there a little longer so he can talk with him and show him things as the play develops. If it works, go with it.
Re: JJ McD getting some repsHe (JJ) is just responding to all of you out there that complain about poor Kyle who has to run back and forth every play.

Re: JJ McD getting some reps
We're the only team in FBS that has a QB and HC conferring after every play, JJ has done it with all of his QBs since his college coaching career began. JJ likes to tell his QB exactly what to expect on every play. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: JJ McD getting some repsI sit near by at Ford and he is not just telling Padron about the next play but also quickly tells him what he missed on the previous one if that was the case. I think it can wear the QB down but it is kind of fascinating to watch him explaining reads that were not picked up.

Re: JJ McD getting some repsDid JJ always do this? I seem to remember him doing it a lot with this guy too:
![]() Doesn't that slow down the offense?
Re: JJ McD getting some repsWhen they have run the true 2:00 minute offense, like they did at the end of the first half at Navy, the QB does not go to the sideline. As it is now it is no different than the teams that get set then pause and all look to the sideline for the play with the exception of the extra running for the QB.

Re: JJ McD getting some repsJune conferred with Jeff George as HC of the Falcons, too.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: JJ McD getting some repsI remember Craig Morton and Roger Starbach doing this with Mr. Tom Landry.

Re: JJ McD getting some repsWhen I was on the field for the Tulsa game, I wondered what they were talking about, so I stepped over directly next too them and could not believe it! JJ keeps telling him that he is saving money on his insurance with Geico.
Re: JJ McD getting some repsIt was GENIUS!! June Jones without notice changes quarterbacks on the field first snap of the second half.. Wow, that got my attention and it sure seemed to get Kyle Padron's as well as the entire teams. I can only imagine how difficult it has been for June after all the national television game announcers talking up his "high octane Run and Shoot offense" only to see his team struggle and the momentum erode to seem to effect the whole teams attitude. June seemed to know he had to do something. June had defended his quarterback each game with "the kids had various short comings and Kyle will see on the tape that he had his opportunities". I was both glad and Oh Boy! when JJ McDermot took the field, then shocked again when Kyle took the second snap. I thought this is serious.. Shock the Monkey.. what do you get, total breakdown or adrenaline rush..
Only after a very exciting team performance and Kyle seeming to come alive and getting aggressive and attacking the defense with terrific success winning maybe the most important game to date, I began to think of how June always refers to his team as "kids". I have always sort of thought that word "kids" is odd when these "young men" are 6'8" and weigh close to three hundred pounds. But when you look at Kyle particularly being interviewed, yes he is and they are all still kids. I started thinking how would have a kid responded to June Jones telling him on monday he was going to bench him. When the object of sport in high school and college is building Men and Confidence out of Kids. It was then that I realized the Genius of June Jones approach to bring JJ McDermot onto the field while in effect still leaving Kyle on the field to respond by stepping up or stepping down. I think this was the wisest coaching move I have ever seen.
Re: JJ McD getting some repsAt one point in time Landry Protege Dan Reeves shuttled Tommy Maddux and Shuan Moore in and out on alternating plays for a number of games for the Broncos. He obviously had no trust in either QB and wanted to confer after every play.

Re: JJ McD getting some repsEnough already. I understand the scare tactic but putting J.J. in is a wasted down. He is not D-1 Quarterback material.
