Re: big east votes to expandUCF and TCU?
Houston and TCU? Houston and UCF? Memphis and TCU? Memphis and UCF? ...or just TCU and bring up Villanova, that latter of which has been discussed and is reiterated in the article Last edited by RGV Pony on Tue Nov 02, 2010 3:04 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: big east votes to expandwhy in the world wouldn't villanueva accept?
that leaves only tcu and cusa is saved.
Re: big east votes to expandso, if Nova is one, how in the world does this make any sense? Adding a 10th for football creates odd scheduling and potentially a 17th bball member?
Re: big east votes to expandmaybe Nova and Navy (Midshipmen for football only?)
Re: big east votes to expandi think tcu is a done deal.
if nova is that stupid they need to join the sunbelt. depaul and marquette may be asked very politely to leave.
Re: big east votes to expandGuess we can go to MWC and be TCU's sloppy seconds again
Re: big east votes to expandno need to go to the mwc. they are done without tcu utah and byu.
boise may as well come here.
Re: big east votes to expandthe Big East needs to improve its strength and competitiveness first and foremost, not just add numbers. Gotta think TCU is alone at the top of the list with Villanova a special case, and Navy, UCF, Memphis and Houston lurking as possibilities depending on how the football/bball politics break.
Re: big east votes to expand
I hear we are replacing Iowa
Re: big east votes to expand
I'm all for that. Iowa is a 4-letter word.
Re: big east votes to expandMost of my family went to Iowa. My grandmother offered to pay my way if I went there
Re: big east votes to expandAnd you had the wisdom to turn her down...you're a good man.
Re: big east votes to expandgotta figure the Big East is pretty well set at 16 bball members, although for the right programs I suppose they might consider 18. Problem is...none of the potential football members bring anything to the table, hoops wise.
Nova is a no-brainer to follow the UConn move up in football. I really don't understand 10 members for football unless they want to offer TCU for football only. Playing 9 conference games helps with non-conference scheduling, especially if teams are scheduling Notre Dame, Army & Navy. Didn't Notre Dame agree to play 4 Big East teams every year as part of their deal to compete in the Big East for all other sports?
