i haven't seen any scenarios for that.
we need to find a better opponent.

I was thinking about that possibility. The way it could happen is if 2 BCS bids go to Big 10 and a few of those 4 win Big 10 teams fail to reach bowl eligibility. CUSA is the backup conference for Big 10 in the Dallas Football Classic which gets something like the 8th or 9th pick behind the Pinstripe Bowl. Now if Texas goes 6-6 and bowls are awarded by Conference Standings then it could be possible. If Bowls pick by popularity UT would be long gone even at 6-6.

I'd rather play Baylor. I feel like we match up much, much better with the Bears.

careful what you wish for; we are still a developing program and would benefit most by reaching a bowl game and playing someone we can beat. Last year's script couldn't have been written any better. Will be a tough act to follow. I'd love to reach the Liberty Bowl on a hot streak and beat a middle of the pack SEC team

weedwacker bowl games are good for two things practice/exposure... the main thing being practice because it essentially adds 4-5 weeks for underclassmen to continue to develop. example #1 DJ

The marque victory used by TCU in building the foundation of a BCS buster program was TCU's victory over a similiarly weak USC team in the Sun Bowl. TCU was 6-5 and very average. Nobody will watch SMU play Southwestern Louisiana School for the Blind in the Jalepeno Bowl. The entire State of Texas (and more importantly every top recruit) would watch SMU play in the Cotton Bowl on New Years Day.

And you can truthfully sit in there with a Texas recruit and say to them "You'll get to play TCU, you'll get to play Tech, you'll get to play A&M, and oh look, we just played (and hopefully beat) the University of Texas in the Cotton Bowl"

Wins speak loudest, duh, but not a bad little card to have in your recruiting back pocket. Certainly help kids forget we play Tulane, UAB, and Rice.

when you're right, you're right! i remember that game well and thinking "if tcu wins this game there will be no living with these people". and ever since then...

it might leave some fans on here scared/squeamish, but i bet the players and coaches (and this fan) would love to see what they could do against UT. and i also think our program could handle it if we got killed.

now what UT players and fans would think about playing SMU, that's another matter.

If we were fortunate enough to play a bowl game against ut in the Cotton Bowl, we should be 'pee-our-pants' happy.
