Only if you are actually IN the game. If you are playing as badly as we are, you should go for the 1st down by throwing a pass. Funny, I thought we were a pass first offense anyway?

You didn't think this would be a tough game? Learning to grind through games like Tulane last week and UTEP this week is part of the maturation of a team that is still growing.

UTEP can lay an egg, and if it lost at home to UTEP, then it did lay an egg. Talk to coaches and players. El Paso is a tough place to get a win. The Miners are not a great team, so if they turn in a crappy performance, obviously they can be beaten. But they also can be tough.

Realism isn't sunshine. Can we beat them? Of course. But we're not good enough that anyone should think it's a foregone conclusion.

both Houston and Tulsa have converted first downs against us on 3rd and 30 (and then some). Such plays exist. One in particular while you were still in Kansas (Kolb, 3rd and 37, out of the north end zone)

If that's the only play that gets you there, then call it. It's a friggin' give up when we needed to move downfield. Draw gets you what, maybe 5 yards if you're lucky? Not good enough.
