Worst Case Scenario?

Postby RE Tycoon » Mon Nov 08, 2010 12:02 pm

Looking at the standings it is still conceivable if we split our remaining two games, we could still represent the West in the CUSA Championship game if UH loses their remaining two conf. games and Tulsa goes 1-2 in their last three.

Unless things change and/or click during the bye week, I think there is little chance we beat ECU at ECU. And although I wouldn't bet on it, I believe we get to six wins by beating Marshall at Ford in two weeks.

So, that brings us to the nightmare scenario. Tulsa and UH play out as mentioned above and SMU is the West representative at 6-6. It's almost certain UCF will host, so we would have to beat the best team in the conference on the road (which the current team does not look capable of doing), and if we don't win, our final record for bowl purposes is 6-7 and we are not bowl eligible.

My personal take is if the goal is to go to another bowl, unless we win the remaining two games, we don't want to qualify for the CUSA Championship game.

Thoughts?

Edit: Since we beat Tulsa, they could go 2-1 and we would still get the nod. Assuming we split the last two games, we would both be 5-3 and we hold the tiebreaker.
