SMU Receivers in Losses

although they have run up some big numbers against some weak pass defenses(SMU has played the 3 worst pass defenses statistically in the NCAA)-what has Padron and these receivers done in games where we lost. Not very impressive:
Darrius Johnson 30 Catches 296 yards 9.9 yards per catch
Cole Beasley 30 Catches for 270 yards 9.0 yards per catch
Bradley Haynes 22 Catches for 199 yards 9.0 yards per catch
Aldrick Robinson is a home run threat and is a playmaker-his stats are pretty good:
26 Catches for 394 yards 15+ yards per catches.
9-10 yards ain't going to get it done. Basically 3 possession receivers in those games. Most defenses will give SMU's Run N Shoot the short passes all day long. We need to be more consistent in hitting the 2nd and 3rd level and making plays after catch to beat the better teams on our schedule.

How are anyone else's receivers doing in losses?

I'm also tired of all this dinking and dunking with very little Yards After Catch.
And, it drives me nuts when SMU is second and short, then Padron throws two incompletions.
We're allowed to run the ball now and then, especially when Zach Line is having an all-conference
season.

1) drops from recievers
2) footwork/ball placement from Padron

3) Ball/pass pump fakes from Padron to freeze defenders
4) Head fakes from Padron to freeze defenders
5) Check off on several recievers instead of looking at first option and then throwing it to first option

I believe the receivers have lost their legs because of the need for backups and the continuous running of routes.. This week off should give us our legs back and give them the edge they need to be sharp...Only time will tell. This is why I believe when guys run long routes, a replace for a play or so will keep us sharp in our cuts...Some teams have complete units they exchange after long routes. I think we will see better routes run with crispness and more energy after a week off. I believe teams get into trouble by not using backups during games especially when a player goes down and the relief has to step in. This also includes more players in the action which builds team morale. Another class will give us more quality depth with more size and speed. It will come together with time...Go Mustangs!!!

Hey PS: you must think Kp is on the basketball team. Head fake, pump, do you want him to dribble behind his back too? You might want to start showing up and hear what JJ says at the luncheons. He tells you who the QB is looking at while he's making his reads. You do realize the Qb is reading the defender? The DB's reaction tells the Qb where to throw. I hope the QB doesn't get caught in the lane more than 3 seconds doing all that pumping and head faking. Oops, wrong sport again.
