sound familiar?
Re: Another job openingHogwash. The sanctions go back to the Neuheisel era. They could give out 20 scholarships instead of 25 for two years, 2003-05. Hardly a reason for the putrid play of the Buffaloes in 2010.

Report: CU targeting Patterson for head coach position BOULDER - Sources within the University of Colorado athletic department have indicated that the school is interested in hiring TCU head coach Gary Patterson to lead its football program as the Buffaloes move to the PAC-12. "Patterson would be an ideal choice for us," one athletic department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said. "He's a proven winner who has taken TCU to national prominence." Patterson's TCU Horned Frogs began the season ranked #4 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. They are currently ranked #5 in the BCS Standings. "The success that he has had at TCU is tremendous," the athletic department official said. "He's taken that program to a level that we would like to reach here at CU." While Dan Hawkins' Buffaloes currently sit at 3-3, the athletic department has already decided to make a move to fire him at the end of the year. "There's no way he will beat Nebraska or Oklahoma," the official said, adding "We might as well forfeit the rest of the games on our schedule." The decision to hire a new coach coincides with CU's decision to move to the Pac-12. As another source in the athletic department said, "It's time to start a new era, and that means cleansing ourselves of any remnants of this program when we played in that league based in the Great Plains." Patterson's name may not be a surprise to some, due to his winning, but hiring Patterson would certainly not be without controversy. The TCU head man reportedly has berated team doctors for holding injured players out of games, which is eerily similar to the events that led to Mike Leach's firing at Texas Tech. CU, though, has no concerns about that. "We don't think that Gary will even need doctors at CU," the first official said. "When a player gets injured, he can have the player grab some snow and hold it over the injury." In fact, CU officials believe that Patterson is a can't-miss hire. "He's been so successful building TCU into one of the nation's top programs," a source said. "That sort of success at a non-BCS school will certainly translate into championships at a BCS school like CU."
Re: Another job openingMaybe Leach will want that gig. he could change the helmets to black, with a gold buffalo outline and gold letters, and everything else black. His 'o' would fit in well w/ Pac 10. CU-Oregon would have an o/u of 100
Re: Another job openingThey are not going to get GP at CU, even if they are interested. He would fit in at CU and Boulder like oil and water. They will probably hire McCartney again, with Bill Snyder as an example.
Re: Another job opening
McCartney is 74 and hasn't coached since 1994. Personally, I think it would be a terrible hire, but what do I know? "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Another job openinghttp://www.onlineuniversities.com/blog/ ... ge-sports/
pretty impressive that cu made the top 10 twice. cu has said they will not pay big bucks for a new coach. they will never hire leach. i think they may very well hire mccartney, now that the beatles aren't getting back together.
Re: Another job openingSeems like I read in the Denver Post that McCartney is 70 but I think the Bill Snyder effect will help Mac. The Post is saying that he may be the favorite. CU is a tough place in which to win becuse of the environment in Boulder and at CU. Interestingly the Denver Post almost covers the Buffs as poorly as the DMN covers SMU.
Re: Another job opening
Does their coverage have anything to do with how poorly they have been in sports? They have not been relevant in football since 2001/2 when Chris Brown ran circles (198) around Nebraska, and they lost to Joey Harrington-led Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl. Re: Another job openingObviously, CU's success or lack thereof on the field has acted to diminish the local media's enthusiasm for writing about them, just as SMU's has worked against them. But, given the fact that CU is the state U, I find the lack of coverage a little surprising. Boulder is close to Denver and I suspect that most Boulderites read The Post and there is only one BCS school in the whole state but the coverage is relatively scanty. The Broncos dominate the sports pages in Denver as far as football is concerned and now since they are in decline, who knows what will happen?
Re: Another job openingBroncos fans love the Broncos win or lose. It's amazing, really. That type of thing doesn't happen in DFW.

Denver still has Carmelo... ![]() "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
