This is sweeps week for radio. Arbitron is conducting its ratings gathering sweep starting Thursday and ending next Wednesday. Of course we don't have a game being broadcast this weekend.
I know scheduling is done without regards to ratings for our media outlets, but one Mustang radio listener captured during sweeps week would be a boast to our radio broadcast ratings. That equals more money for the radio station and possibly expansion of the radio network. Arbitron randomly picks households to keep a listening diary during this week. Would a Mustang listener get randomly selected? Who knows. But if so, they would not be able to list the SMU game this week since there isn’t one.
Arbitron uses any listener (whether Internet, Satellite, or regular broadcast). So someone in Alaska listening to the SMU game could capture that for Arbitron and it would count in The Tickets SMU game’s ratings.
But since this is ratings week, one can safely assume that SMU football will have ZERO listeners captured by Arbitron. That doesn't look too good.
