Braden Smith

Postby Big Hoss » Thu Nov 11, 2010 1:19 am

I believe they originally converted smith to DB, and then to LB. On the website, he is still listed as a DB. I have no idea what his actual 40 time is, but he looked pretty quick on the plays he ran last year. Given that our secondary has been picked apart, why hasn't Smith been given a shot to move back to DB?

He's listed at 6 foot even, 200 lbs. Seems an okay size for a DB, unless he has bulked up more since the stats were posted on the site. Much bigger, then obviously it becomes harder to run in step with wideouts.

Anyone?

I think he was getting looks at safety before moving to LB due to depth needs there.

When QB's get converted to LB's you know you are in trouble.

Exactly. Taking your best athlete, bulking him up a little and putting him on defense is a good thing. Now taking your linebacker and moving him to QB may be questionable.

he's played on the 2nd unit defense this year. Several times Mason has put the 2nd team D on the field for a series at a given point during the game, and Braden's been in there at LB.

Jones' first year he redshirted. Sorry I am an idiot, and was thinking of Logan Turner.

Didn't we convert a QB to TE or was it a TE to a QB during the Cavan or Bennett eras...or should that be errors?

I think Tate wallis and mark hodges were both qbs who became te's. Wallis actually saw some time at qb with Bartel and I believe both were recruited by Cavan
