Monday Night Football at Ford Thursday morning

Practice ended Thursday with June Jones' "Monday Night Football" game, consisting largely of freshmen who are redshirting this season. The older players (the regulars) served as 50-or-so coaches/cheerleaders for their teammates.

Didn't take any notes or stats or anything, but a few guys stood out:

• Cornerbacks Chris Parks and Kenneth Acker each made really nice interceptions on which they played inside the receiver and jumped high to make the catch. Parks made his interception in front of receiver Jordan Miller, who turned to chase Parks but was flattened by linebacker Randall Joyner.
• Couple of linebackers made several big hits (to the delight of their veteran teammates): Lincoln Schick and Craig Jackson.
• Jackson was the recipient of the hit of the day: while chasing a receiver who caught a quick pass in the flat, Jackson kept his eye on the ball carrier and didn't see receiver Jordan Miller, who came back to block and blasted Jackson. Teammates on both sides went completely nuts.
• Larry Centers, Jr., was probably the most consistent offensive weapon. He made several catches, and made a lot of teammates miss.

He REALLY impressed me during pre-season camp this year. Made a ton of plays the 3 or 4 times I went to the practices.

If he has half the talent of his Dad, that kid will be pretty good.

Hope those INTs by Acker and Parks are an indicator of things to come!

I saw some of the action today, and Centers reminds me of some of those Houston receivers, quick, shifty, and elusive. I could see him returning punts next year.
