A Hattiesburg police spokesperson says an altercation took place inside the Hunt Club off Highway 49 around 1:20am. That altercation then moved outside of the Hunt Club where one person opened fire injuring three.

While Southern Miss has declined comment at this time, sources tell 7 on Your Side that Southern Miss football players are among those injured. Their conditions are described as critical.

Coach Larry Fedora, staff, and team members have been spotted at Forrest General Hospital since very early Sunday morning. This story is developing... check back for more details.

Prayers for a speedy recovery

It's a damn shame that so many of us fans jump to the conclusion that if a football player is shot that it's somehow their fault (noting the comments made about the story on that site). Granted, players should likely avoid certain places because they can garner more attention than the average Joe, but it's kinda hard to avoid all human contact just because you have some level of fame.

I hope they are okay.
