DALLAS (SMU) - It's a bit early for snow and the forecast for Saturday is sunny and beautiful, but SMU is hoping for a lot of white at the SMU-Marshall football game. The SMU Athletic Department today announced a "WHITE OUT" for the regular season finale, when the Mustangs host the Marshall Thundering Herd at 2 p.m. on Nov. 20. Fans attending the game are asked to wear white to show support for the Mustangs. The team will join in on the action and will be donning their traditional road white uniforms.

The first-place Mustangs enter the game needing just one more win for bowl eligibility and again controlling their own destiny in Conference USA's West Division. If the Mustangs win their final two games, they will win their division and will represent the West in the C-USA Championship game.

SMU is also making it easy for families to come to the game. For as little as $56, fans can get four tickets, four hot dogs and four drinks. Larger families can add additional family members for $14 each. For tickets, call the SMU Ticket Office at 214-SMU-GAME.

SMU will honor 11 seniors in a post-game celebration: Chris Butler, Mickey Dollens, Patrick Fleming, Pete Fleps, Ryan Moczygemba, Sterling Moore, Aldrick Robinson, Justin Smart, Matt Szymanski, Bennie Thomas, and Youri Yenga.

SMU fans can greet the Mustangs as they arrive on campus prior to the game at the Mustang Walk. The walk will begin at the corner of Binkley Ave. and Ownby Dr. (next to the Collins Center) and will proceed west on Binkley before making a left turn and heading south on Bishop Boulevard. The team, led by the Mustangs, will then march down the Boulevard before making a left at the Meadows Museum and heading north into the Loyd Center and their locker room. This week's Walk is set to begin at 11:15 a.m.

I'm glad the team will be matching the fans. The blue-out with the team wearing red seemed weird.
Plus I'm always a fan of getting the lovely sorority girls into (and out of) their white sundresses.

How long ago was it that wearing white at home was the norm for college teams?

LSU decided it would be "different" in 1958 by wearing white at home, so it's been the norm to wear dark since at least 1957

that's one thing I noticed the Sun Bowl has going for it. Drab gray doesnt leave such a glaring impression when unoccupied the way shiny reflective red (and blue) does

That's going to be tough since I do not have a white hawaiian shirt.

Two points -

1. They are not Mustangs. By definition they are broken horses with no "package," and they have riders.

2. If you turn left at Meadows, you are heading East not North as the Boulevard runs North & South.
