Potential 6-7 and no bowl?

Am i right in assuming that there is a scenario where we could go to the Conference Championship game and not make it to a bowl?

Both SMU and Tulsa lose. SMU backs into the championship game at 6-6. We lose to UCF/USM to drop to 6-7 keeping us out of a bowl.

I know its the worst case scenario, but I was just trying to see if it was an actual possibility.

it takes 6 wins to be bowl elgible, which we would have. Despite the fact we are under .500. Although that may make us less desirable to a bowl committee, we still played in a con. champ game. Can't remember who, but someone referenced a team that made it into their con. championship and didn't go bowling. I think it was in 2007. This has only happened to one team in recent history. I like our chances.

Heard over the weekend that NCAA is looking at amending rules to ensure that all the bowls will have teams - currently not enough teams are eligible to fill the bowls. There is enough interest in SMU that a bowl will take us - Armed Forces, Hawaii. While it is possible that CUSA fills it's bowls. It is also possible that other conferences will not.

Simply put, beat ECU. Then the absolutely worse we could do is 7-7. And the potential to be 9-5 which is a pretty darn good season.

If we want to be champions, then winning a game like the ECU game is essential to the mental development of this program.

Actually, it takes a .500 record, which in a 12 game schedule is 6 wins, and in a 13 game schedule is 7 wins...which is why Hawaii never goes bowling with 6 wins.

We would need a waiver to play in a bowl game at 6-7.
