Cowboys returner Bryan McCann vs. Saints kicking/punting units
McCann's dramatic rise is almost as surprising as the Cowboys' fall.
The Cowboys signed McCann, relegated him to the practice squad, waived him and then signed him again a week after Baltimore signed and released him. He has moved at greater speed since getting a roster spot.
McCann averaged 27.8 yards on five kickoffs in his first game against Green Bay. Then he influenced two straight victories with a 101-yard interception return and a 97-yard punt return.
Against the Saints, McCann and Dez Bryant could field kicks and punts from McCann's former SMU teammate, Thomas Morstead.
Morstead has six touchbacks on 31 kickoffs and has netted an average of 38.7 yards on 34 punts, landing 15 inside the 20. Field goal kicker Garrett Hartley from Southlake Carroll has two touchbacks on 20 kickoffs.
New Orleans ranks 27th in punt coverage with an average of 12.5 yards allowed. EDGE: McCANN
