Nervous Nellies

SMU has some of the biggest Give-Up Gary's in the sporting universe. We had fans giving up 5 minutes into the game. This game is a great example of how Champions make plays Losers make excuses. Against Navy when the chips were down nobody stepped up and made plays. Today it happened several times when momentum was clearly in favor of ECU. That Knute Rockne Gipper Speech may be a little hokey but it is also so true. Winners get off the floor when they are knocked down

Hang on a sec, I'm confused. Are they Give-Up Gary's or Nervous Nellies?

couldnt agree more. I dont know how someone could be so dense to be making those comments so early - its annoying and foolish. Its like they have never played in, or even watched a game before
Have a backbone or maybe move on to something that suits your temperment better - like bird watching or something. .

Agreed. SMU did what they had to do to win. It wasn't a blow out but it was a quality come from behind win.
And how many of us just died when we went into overtime? I did since I wasn't aware we won an OT in 2004.

Quit bashing our fans - all teams have 'em. I wonder what they are saying on the Texas board.
We win the division and Stallion posts a thread bashing our fans. Weird. Fair weather fans are irratating but they are as much a part of sports as anything else.

Seriously? SMU the past 20 yrs and this season gives
Reason for any SMU fan to be a nervous Nellie.
This season was almost gone if it werent for an awesome
2nd half at Tulane.

You can fight without ever winning, but never ever win without a fight!!!

its not the bashing that is the issue. Its the fact that they start doing in at the very first sign of COMPETITION from the other team - which is just weird. Those folks should stop commenting and possibly even stop watching football.

Actually, I think that comments on the game thread were warranted and show HOW LONG some of us have been Mustang fans!!!!!!!!!!!! It isn't SMU football without the roller coaster ride. You might need to buckle up!!!!!!!!!

Going down 14-0 while being seemingly unable to move the ball to a team who, in the last 4 games, gave up:
62 to Rice
42 to UAB
76 to Navy
49 to UCF
gives you a good reason to be nervous.
I still think discussion is warranted as to why we only scored 38 in regulation to this team.

SMU peed all over it's leg in the first half. It's okay to be incredulous when your team is getting it's [deleted] kicked by a bottom-ten defense. I bet Auburn's board looks worse, even against a no. 11 team and defending national champion.
