Kyle Padron -- Leader and Winner

Postby Mitch McConnell » Sat Nov 27, 2010 7:16 pm

He had his ups and downs. Some throws were goofy. He made some wrong reads.

But the bottom line is that this kid knows how to lead and to win. Bad ankle and hangs in there and makes some quality throws. This game reminded us of how he led this team to wins over UTEP and Tulane last year.

Sometimes the intangible of knowing how to compete/lead/win cannot be measured. Padron has that while QBs who have the athletic gifts struggle to find it.

He will play in Orlando and will grind it out. He will not be intimidated by UCF and will give SMU a chance to win this game.

not his best, but he played hurt and no picks or big mistakes. It may be that he is being too cautious missing receivers on the sidelines wide and long. I think he has had a small sophomore slump this year, but he's a winner and if we need a drive under pressure, as a fan i have every confidence that he is cool under pressure and can get it done.

He is a gamer and makes plays when it counts. Go back and look at the wins this team has had under his guidance and you will see a big play of two per game he makes on critical third downs (a lot of times with his feet) that help guide the team to victory.

He is one seriously tough young man. I'm more than happy to have him manning the controls for my team's offense.

Copied from PonyPride's notes:

- Responsible for 3 TDs (all passing) and now has 32 TDs (28 pass, 4 rush) for the season, which sets the SMU record; Now has 44 TDs for his career, which ties for 6th at SMU
- Now has five 300-yard games for this season, which is 2nd at SMU and seven for his career, which is 2nd at SMU
- Had 3 TD passes; he now has 38 for his career, which is 3rd at SMU; now has 28 for the season, which sets the SMU record
- Had 331 passing yards and now has 5228 for his career; that is 5th at SMU; has 3306 for the season, that sets the record at SMU
- Had 21 completions and now has 396 for his career; that ranks 6th at SMU; has 261 for the season, that moves him into 3rd at SMU
- Had 338 yards of total offense and now has 5521 for his career, that ranks 6th at SMU; has 3557 for the season, that is 2nd in a season at SMU

wait until he is a Senior. He is barely scratching the surface although we seriously need to find some deep threats

I hope he will work on his accuracy and delivering the ball much quicker this off-season. Also, the WRs need to work with him so they are on the same page when we start next season.

He has always shown that he is cool and level headed when at the controls and yes, he is TOUGH and doesn't give up. Watching him hobble from the field to JJ every play was painful to see. I agree w/Stallion-------our opponents better watch out his senior year b/c he will be awesome.

This is going to be the biggest concern going into next year. Im hopeful that one of this years freshman like Jeremy Johnson, Arthur Londy, or Derrick Thompson who all had reported 4.4 40s will be that guy. These guys will have already had a year understanding the offense which should help.

We have heard reports that Derrick Thompson has looked VERY fast in practice. Guinyard is another guy who could be a big producer.

Next year the top 4 recievers will be one of the things Im looking forward to watching in the offseason.
