Report: Georgia to Face CUSA Champ in Liberty Bowl

Postby Stallion » Sun Nov 28, 2010 4:45 am

Article seems to be more definite about Georgia bid-maybe assuming CUSA will definitely choose CUSA Champ-I have my doubts

This would be especially awesome for me because I'm a huge UGA fan. In fact, I am probably the biggest Stafford fan outside of his direct family. But of course, I would definitely cheer for SMU if they played. Hope it happens, but first....

While watching the GT vs. UGA game last night, I thought UGA would be a good matchup for us in the Liberty Bowl. I had hoped for Tenn which would be a better match up and an electric atmosphere, but UGA will be good as well.

I am sure JJ would love to play UGA again and try to redeem himself from the 2008 thrashing he got at the Sugar bowl.

Being from the ATL, many of my friends went to UGA, so I would love to see us play the dawgs.

This morning on sports talk radio, the guys were giving the ponies some love, saying they wouldn't be surprised to see us beat UGA.

I honestly think we could beat them. While AJ Green is an unbelievable talent, their defense is flat out awful. Coupled with the fact that JJ wants revenge, it could bode well.

Let's beat UCF first.

That's a marquee win if I've ever seen one for a mid-major program. What'd you do this year? Oh nothing, just beat Georgia on New Years Eve. Down year or not, that's a big win.

Peruna v UGA

75 member Mustang Band vs 400 member Redcoat band

UGA wearing black jerseys? vs JJ wearing a black shirt

Sugar Bowl redux?

Best part about a game vs UGA is their Band playing over and over "gooooo Georgia bull-dogs" to the tune of 2 Live Crew's "heyyyyy we want some ######"

Get healthy. Beat UCF

I would be interesting to see if we could hang with them. SMU recruited Georgia starting QB Aaron Murray very hard until he settled on Georgia then we took Kyle.

I can't drink this kool-aid....sorry. 90% of our team would've given their left nut to have an offer from UGA, and would've signed it before the printer ink dried.

UGA would roll us. Eat our breakfast, lunch and dinner. But I'd be in the front row reminding them that my ACT score was triple the hourly wage they'll earn the first year after they graduate. So all in all, a good day.

Go Ponies. Beat UCF.

I was at the UGA vs. GT game last night and could not help thinking afterwards about a SMU/UGA Liberty Bowl matchup. I would love to see this matchup and even if we are overmatched it would provide us with some great national exposure against a high caliber SEC powerhouse (even if they are having a bad year).

would be nice to win next weekend and at least give them a decision to make; JJ would probably love to have another shot at Georgia...or would he?

I know very little about Georgia this year except that they're having an off year.
I would not bet against SMU in such a game though. If Georgia's defense is bad (and it appears to be) this could be a "first to 40 wins" type of game. I'd put the money on SMU in such a case. It should be entertaining at least.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves..... Beat UCF first. Then worry about the bowl game. :-)

Unfortunately, we could not stop their running game in 1966 and we failed miserably to get any passes called for LeVias. Never-the-less, a fun time and an excellent Cotton Ball dance/reception at the Apparel Mart with the Georgia team and fans.
