From the home office, High on the Hilltop, the Top 10 New Year's resolutions for SMU athletics in 2004:

10. A return to full health for Rico Harris, Lucky DeLay, Suzanne Collins, Townsend Hargis, Alisa Wright, Richuel Massey, Jay Taylor, and all other Ponies who were injured this year

9. A spread of the "team first, no stars" attitude shown this year by the men's basketball team

8. A quick cohesiveness among the offensive linemen and an understanding of the new coach's blocking scheme

7. A stylist to find a happy medium between the hairstyles of Coach Dement and Bobby Aitkenhead

6. Regional and national respect (and ranking) for the women's soccer team -- and a well-deserved nosedive for those wannabe pretenders at Texas A&M

5. A wider variety of replica jerseys at The Spirit Shop

4. A visible presence at all sports by returning alumni coming back to support the current Mustangs

3. Another football recruiting class that continues to lay the foundation for a bright future at Ford Stadium

2. A national championship for Schellas Hyndman

And the #1 New Year's resolutio for SMU athletics:

1. A football win over TCU!

Not your funniest list, Letterman, but obviously humor wasn't your intent.

Couldn't agree with you more on #10.

And #7 is a funny idea (although a little frightening, depending on what the stylist comes up with.)

And AMEN on #1!

Happy New Year, PonyFans. Be safe tonight.

I'll be happy with #10 - let all the Ponies start off 2004 with a clean bill of health!

Speaking of Bobby Aikenhead, he was not suited up at the Navy game, is he hurt?

I don't know - I know he was there at the Appalachian State game, and was ready to enter the game in the last seconds (although I don't remember if he made it into the game or not). Maybe a practice injury?

Why only hoping for a win over TCU? It is amazing how low the standards for success are for SMU fans. We should be expecting winning seasons, bowl games, and conference championships. It is time for SMU to become truly committed to competing in Div 1 football.
