Air Force
Colo St
New Mexico
San Diego St
Boise St...coming soon
UNLV
Wyoming
Nevada...coming soon
Fresno...coming soon
Now if only they'd added us and Houston instead of Fresno & Nevada; throw in UTEP and I wouldnt have minded being in the mix.

And potentially Hawaii, right?
Not sure I'd want us to move to the Mountain West now unless they added at least 4 schools from CUSA (us, Houston, UTEP & Tulsa, maybe?). I'd hate to have every away conference game require a 3-4 hour plane ride, especially if it really doesn't make our SOS any better thus improving our chances of becoming the next BCS buster.

Hawaii's invitation to the MWC was reportedly contingent on TCU going to the Big East. Hawaii has a football-only invitation and wants to place its non-football sports in the Big West to reduce travel time/expense.

Now is the time for the CUSA/MWC merger idea to really take fruition. The MWC is in serious danger of being left for dead now after BYU, Utah, and TCU have left the conference. However, there are still a couple of decent teams left over there.
Boise State
Nevada
Fresno State
San Diego State (starting to turn it around)
Hawaii (?)
If we can find a way to make this work where the winner of the championship game is gauranteed a BCS bowl berth I think this would work for all parties involved. At least until the next major conference shift occurs. Think about it this way. You've got several pretty solid non aq programs in this mix if you throw in Central Florida, SMU, Houston, Southern Miss, East Carolina, and Tulsa.

Should the SMU football program continue to reach new heights, it is paramount for us to get away from Rice and Tulane.
Wherever we go, shouldn't we think about Tulsa being a traveling partner in something -- IF THAT'S THE DIRECTION WE MIGHT BE GOING?
I realize Tulsa is the smallest DI school from an enrollment standpoint but their street cred in FB is pretty stout.
On second thought....maybe not. We just need to focus on ourselves and be the best we can be and commit to it. It's a jungle out there.

That is probably the best idea for the schools as a whole, but I have my doubts they will make it happen. Ignoring the hurdles that might be there, are you thinking it becomes a conference with 16 teams? 8 in an east/west division split taking the best of both conferences?

Based on current acceptances, the MWC will have 10 members in 2012. The SDSU Prez said they want to get to 12; so they will add two of SMU, Houston, or UTEP to stay in Texas market. The big question is do we want to stay in CUSA without UTEP, Houston and UCF( goes Big East)?

That would be a disaster to stay in CUSA without them.

So if the MWC could have held together they would have had BYU, TCU, Boise, and Utah. Would That would have been enough to steal the Big east AQ spot?

Its the WAC, we've been there and done that. No thanks. Boise didn't draw in Dallas. AFA would. I would not want to go there even if UH went. I think we're all better off, staying together in CUSA and forcing some sort of merger.

But which of our other conference teams really draws in Dallas? Houston had what 1500 fans there? It's not about opposing team fan's attendance, it's about getting to a conference that is more respectable, thus making it easier to be ranked.

A lot of speculation going on that SMU and Houston might be top candidates for MWC looking to go to 12.
